The outdoors is the best therapy, good on the VA for suggesting more nature activities. My kit when I’m only prospecting (testing areas), consists of: 1. Garrett Super Sluice Pan/Snuffer bottle 2. Shovel and Pack 3. Water filter bag and food. 4. First aid kit/compass/ferro rod/matches/lighter. 5. Firearm in certain areas however I always carry bear spray and wear a bear bell on my pack. 6. Extra pair of wool socks in a ziploc bag. 7. Rain Jacket 8. Not an item however I give my coordinates and return check in time to someone if it’s a deep woods day. For areas you can go to starting out, I would say Millers River in Erving, Ma would be closer to you then Vermont. Also from Colrain heading West to Charlemont there is gold in some of the brooks and rivers. Also the Westfield River. There is info online as well if you google gold in New England. @user-vw9mb4tv9k so that’s a tough one for under $300 because I’m a big fan of the Keene A52 model. That model will run you somewhere in the mid $200’s-$300. I just looked online and found a pretty decent set up for $175 that will work for you if you classify the dirt first down to 1/4”. Type this into Amazon to see the sluice that may work for you: “Dream Mat 8X35 Sluice Box” And for a classifier type in this: “SE 13 1/4 Inch Stackable Classifier” Also there is a group for Veterans that my friend Scott did a video about and they went prospecting with him. I hear that! Stinks when you can’t run material at the speed you want. I’ve never used a rocker box yet the ones I’ve seen videos of look pretty neat. May be building something for the low flow situation. Been procrastinating the idea for a couple years lol

Knocks down the surface tension of the water. Small gold will actually float if there is too much surface tension in the water.

The one for separating material is called simply a blue bowl. Any prospecting supplies website should have them.

I use the sled for Ice fishing and then saw Buffalo Kris using one on his channel so grabbed mine and tried it. Will be using it prospecting this winter. Funny that we have reverse seasons brother. Btw that episode where you found the gold coin was amazing! Sure beats the nickel I found 🤣👊🏻

Did a couple shovels in different areas of it and no gold. There is another feeder beyond it and that may be the source. It travels under the bamboo grass. I’ve got so many things to check out there and also need to find some new prospects. You know how it is brother so much to do and no time.

So true. This area is pretty far from any major areas which is a good thing however there is a low lying flat zone at the bottom of the valley that was destroyed last year. I pray Vermont doesn’t get anymore floods anytime soon.

This is a green mountain gold trap which is a fluid bed classifier. I don’t run it backwards because if I did it may reverse the time space continuum and that would bring us back to the 1980’s…actually on second thought 🤔🫠

My beef with the Vermont sluice law is this, a 5 foot to 6 foot sluice has zero impact on water... The place gets ripped up by flooding on a regular basis... But they want to tell people that there little sluice and bucket are a danger to the water?? Land of the Free? I asked the guy if anyone ever gave him a hard time and he said once.. No tickets or anything.. It was more of how to without the hassle.. Im sorry but Vermont needs to leave people the eff alone... I do this as a side gig because I'm extremely passionate about it! Im a amateur geologist and have been tracking load deposits & placer for the past 10 years... There is so much more to this place.. The Green Mountains are literally my 2nd home! I been building Fence for the past 27 years and decided 10 years ago that I wanna be a full time gold miner/treasure hunter.. Honestly, I am addicted to adventure man! I love finding caves, old mines and anything out of the ordinary!

Someday after many seasons of spring runoffs I’ll head back out there. I’m always more excited about what the area I’m prospecting will look like over whether I find gold lol. If I’m mining though, I get antsy if I’m not finding any gold.
