Florida/savoy aren't too far from becket/chester and the walker brook along rte20. I used to trek up the little brooks that drain down in to walker brook all along that stretch. It's treacherous landscape, but the gold was nice. Great video too, prospecting is more about looking for the gold, not pushing tons through a highbanker for quantity. I enjoy the hunt as much as the find !

Couldn’t agree more, it’s about being outside more than gold! Treacherous? Sounds fun lol! That whole area of Mass from Florida heading east and south is pristine!

Yeah some areas of Mass are better then others. For all I know there may have been a good spot in the area I was digging yet it would take a lot of trips there to find it. I’m definitely liking trips to Vermont though these days. Thanks for watching 🤠⛏️

Funny to hear you mention the Florida area, I have been chasing gold there recently too. Tons of quartz but no color yet. Hopefully I will have a video from there posted in the next month once this channel gets rolling. Maybe we are hunting in the same waters.

Hope you find some gold there on your next trip! Definitely a ton of quartz out there and heavy garnet sands. There is a lot of feeder streams Florida/Charlemont/Savoy area. Find the heavy magnetite rich areas. Normally I stay away from digging sand on the topsoil however out there I have found a lot of very heavy black sands underneath blond sands. Trial and error.

Any colour you can see counts! Still about 100 times more than what I've found locally 😂An often used phrase in our unit when zeroing our sights on Chieftains was "move about half a gnats baw hair" I mention this only because it's an apt description of the single bit of colour I've ever found 🤣 You're doing well, having fun in great looking area 😃

Your definitely in my old grounds !!! Western MA was where I spent 20 years. By the size of green river where your at, you must be mlre towards mid to north Berkshire if I had to guess. The green river in great Barrington/Egremont has more volume.

@@northeastexpanse I moved a few years ago, sadly... Great Barrington/Egremont area Green river won't be too workable. That's all valley floor around there with very limited bedrock exposure and I'm some spots, hundreds of feet of erosion sediments piled up (sheffield flats). I would recommend the becket/Chester area, along rte 20.... the walker brook runs along side of rte 20 going (running) east. There are some pull off parking areas in the becket section of rte 20, and plenty of steep streams that cut down to walker brook. I've had the most luck above (west) of the walker island camping area, I believe because the gniess with quartz is above (west) of the camping area. Everything after the camping area(going east) is weakly metamorphosed schist that doesn't contain much gold at all. Sorry to inundate you LOL. happy hunting !
