Pretty close to the Spanish original, except that the o in 'so' is reduced to a weak, quiet 'suh'. 'bran' rhymes with 'on'. The final e sounds like the letter A.

Sorry I can't tell you its origin, but there's a very predictable pattern. It happens after certain sounds, like k, h, b, m, but not after others.

The reason: Island is a combo of two words. Isolated land = Is+land = Island 🏝️ That's why it has "S" in it! 😊

No, it doesn't, but if you're struggling with curling your tongue backwards, making it sound like an R, it corrects that issue, at least temporarily until a more correct tongue position can be mastered.
