Thanks! Looking good! The white walls and the shoji go together so beautifully. Glad you didn't get tinted shikkui!

I'm learning a lot about Japanese construction, shikkui, e.g. In the us we use joint compound for everything (IIRC) which also comes premixed and dry. You've gone a long ways in terms of labor. I couldn't believe you were holding down a job at the same time. Nice to see your wife for a change! Still a beauty of a home!

How exciting to finally see the scaffolding come down and away from the main house. TBH - I'm not wild about either the brown siding nor the black. The whole effect of that much black is a bit forbidding. Still, your house is a real beauty!

Yuzu-less.... hahahaha What a change! Looking really good and gonna look even better when your kids are a bit older.

Yeah, I was wondering how long it'd take you to discover belt sanders! 🤩Really appreciate your videos, too. Am now just starting to watch and This Old House has nothing on you. Great job, beautiful entry way and house overall. Way to go!

Japanese structures are much more complex compared to what I've seen in South Korean structures of homes. Wow!😮

It's great to see all that insulation going in. The exposed beams look great, but hypothermia isn't a good look.

Wow you only paid $20.000 u.s for all that OMG if that was for sale it would go for well over a million dollars after renovations here easy. Lol even not restored here would be $600.000 or more. California 3 million

Steve in his videos claims to be a "deportation officer", a chef, a security guard. And now a farmer in Japan. He dispenses "advice" for a fee or a patreon donation. Can't seem to find his last name anywhere online. Good luck folks! Caveat emptor.

I'm 2 years late, but that big house would be a fantastic place to open up tiny interconnected cafés and mini restaurants complex with little art stores from local artists in-between. It would make a nice spot for locals and tourists alike while bringing new life to the building and the town and saving it's historical beauty at the same time.

Oh man, a fucking 4 year old project just to end up with that piece of shit western like roof style on the side house. Why didn’t you just make it Japanese style? Looks so cringy

I remember the beginning. The state in which the house was first in always made me depressed. You can tell someone was living there for a long time in a terrible state before they either passed away or moved.
