I've always wanted one until I test drove a CPO 2023 TRD Off-Road Premium w/ KDSS since none of my local Toyota dealers had a brand new one in stock. 😅 I had to pass on it. Dreams crushed by reality

lol, video of a guy throwing 33's on a stock 4runner then bitching about fuel economy and performance. What an absolute moron. That F-350 engine will explode before it even comes close to 100k miles.

I will be keeping my 5th gen for a long time as it has been a blast to take off road and does well as a daily driver! We also got a 3rd gen for our daughter last year and for being 23 years old and having 235,000 miles on it the thing feels just as solid as our 8 year old 5th gen with 63,000 miles.

Had a very similar experience… I had a 2012 that I bought heavily used and was so impressed with how it had held up after 100k miles I got another 2021… over time road tripping it drove me mad because of the transmission. That was my #1 complaint, was the trans, needed at least the 6 speed from Toyota. The downshifting isn’t a huge deal if the gears are closer together, but better if it had an 8 spd. For the price there are just so much better options for MOST people, and unless regularly using it off road I think most people should pick something else.

Because they are durable, and reliable, being top 3 in the longest lasting North American market vehicles. Bro is American AF. Sees no value unless it is flashy, loud, excessive power, only gets 9mpg and only lasts 30k miles, on routine maintenance. Go get you a Land Rover, and call it a day😂 I have a feeling you are a 6th gen shill lol

2022 4Runner. It is boring to drive and dogs. I get 19-20 all day stock. If you want it to get on it don’t add a lift and bigger tires. Tune it. I bought the vehicle for dependability.

If you buy this to go around town or on road trips, you will think it sucks. It is not underpowered but it only has 5 speeds which make it suck on the Hwy. If you use it to explore the mountains like I do here in Colorado Springs, it is awesome, reliable and capable. Mine 17 has 145,000 miles and has been used pretty hard. Zero repairs. maintenance only. Right tool for the job is what you and your wife missed completely. You built a monster truck and use it to mall crawl. Stupid is letting you off easy.

The 3rd and 4th gens are my favorite. I have experience driving all 3. Including the 5th gen’s. The 3 and 4th gen’s feel more lighter and manageable in every day driving, they also feel quicker. Especially the 4.7 in the 4th gen. I also felt the interiors were “nicer” if you will. The dual vvti 4.0 which is different mechanically than single vvti 4.0 offered in the 4th gen 4Runner and 2nd gen Tacoma’s feels more eager and quicker imo. It’s probably weight and transmission mapping. Don’t get me wrong. A 4Runner is more reliable than anything else out there for the money I think.

All Toyota had to do was drop the V8 from the Lexus 460 and its 6speed trans in to this as an option and fix the brakes. Instead they come out with a 60000 dollar pile of junk called the Land Cruiser all of which will be in the junk yard within ten years.

My 2018 doesn't have a sport mode.. people complain about road tire noise.. and the power in a stock runner... and handling even with aftermarket suspension.. I have absolutely none of these issues...my rig had king suspension..which my rig handles pretty comparable to my wifes Mercedes glc 300 suv.. My rig is way more heavy than a stock one.. as i have aftermarket sliders, steel wheels, bigger tires, big steel bumpers and a roof rack.. the power is decent for what engine it has.. yes I'm not racing anyone.. but i can keep up pretty fine.. and I can take most people off the line still.. my fuel economy is 13mpg unloaded fully loaded woth stuff and people that goes to 11mpg to 12mpg.. lol.. but i could care less about fuel economy.. On the road you are correct.. these rigs and even jeeps are not made to be city street or highway beasts.. they are more offroad champions even over silly fords, gmc, rams, or Chevy trucks... I enjoy my rig on the road.. I'm sure once the engine wears down a bit more and loses more power... I may end up annoyed.. but as for right now.. all is good. Plus we got the Mercedes..which is ok. Not great.. merely ok. Ofc the GLCs are mid anyway.. still better than a Honda though lol
