Do you or any shops offer first time salmon fishing classes? Looking to go with my sons but we have no experience.

Can I use a 30-lb Braid line with a uni knot? Four feet long leader vanish floro twelve pound test line for salmon fishing. Or 30lbs braid main line to a 50 to lb Swivel and floro 12lb floro.?

You can read up on this issue with their ice cream machines. They are forced to use a particular machine which always has issues and they have to be taken care of by the certified repairman. It's something in the computer program of the machine that makes it have glitches on purpose.

My first king salmon was caught on a saltwater rod in the estuary. It was an 8' Penn Spinfisher with a Penn 104 reel with 14lb. line. My guide, Bob Mahoney, recommended I get a 9' Ugly Stik SPL 1100 with a Martin 72R reel and 12lb. line if I planned to come back and fish the river. That was 1988; I still come back almost every year and use that rig. Hasn't failed me yet! And, I'm sorry you closed up shop. I miss it.

I've had the DSR ask me how I keep my split shot from sliding down the line. They want to see that swivel. I find it hard to keep split shot in place without a swivel.

it took me two years to catch a fish on the Salmon river. this is not uncommon and hey, you appreciate it more when you do finally figure it out. I'll be taking my Girl and her son for the first time this fall. by the way, it was the generosity of a retired guide that got me on to my first fish. If i see someone struggling, I will give to them what was given to me. this was a great video. thanks.

so with the fly rod do you just cast as with a normal rod? Also is this rig the same as with a normal (regular) rod?

This is the closest to recent I could find so I hope you get this .I live on the west coast and have had the idea of rigging a rod kind of like you do with a fly reel before I found your channel. My question is how do you cast a fly reel with only monofilament and get any distance with it ? Do you Wallace cast or do you pull a lot of line from the reel and just lob it out there ? Do you do what's called BC swing like they do in Canada?. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated . I really admire what you are doing with salmon fishing out there because you are bringing good clean fun back to families and that means a lot these days . Please don't ever give that up .
