The input gain is key. But what order to do this in? And how to use makeup gain (manually) in plugins like compressors?
@MillerMusic49 минут бұрын
Hey! I think it depends on the situation. Generally, I try to get the levels of the best they can before adding any effects. Like compressors. I have also adjusted volume an individual wave clips to try to level everything out before compression.

Really enjoying taking a budget Tele and modd'ing it til it plays and sounds magical...thru a boutique amp of course. I always disconnect the neck pup from the tone pot...really gives the neck clarity and higher output that blends well with the bridge.

So, you're using a digital interpretation of an analogue compressor to compare to a purely digital creation of a compressor? How about doing a comparison of your digital analogue to a hardware comp? I mean, there's plenty of those videos out forever now, but, isn't that the way you should be comparing the two?
@MillerMusic2 ай бұрын
Yes I realize that it's technically two digital plug-in compressors. The fat channel is modeled after an analog compressor so it tries to emulate that.

I picked correctly. Some famous engineer that I can't recall, said it best: Analog sounds like the instrument is coming from inside of it. Digital sounds like it's been placed on top of the audio.

one question. so are all tracks, whether instruments or vocals, recorded in mono? are their exceptions?
@MillerMusic3 ай бұрын
Great question! I usually record all of my tracks in mono. If I want a particular instrument to have a stereo effect. Are used two different microphones for the instrument. For example overhead mics on a drum. Then I will pan them right and left. When bouncing tracks down I always bounce them to a stereo track to preserve the right and left balance. Does that help?

Hey in this video are you routing 2 mono tracks to the same bus or is it just one mono track? Busses are stereo, so let's say I use amp sims for my guitar sound they have spacial FX so should it be best to put the amp plugin on.the bus itself and just have my 2 mono tracks routing.to that bus to double track . This is just a little confusing thanks
@MillerMusic3 ай бұрын
Hey! Thanks for the question. Yes, I would try putting your amp SIM on the bus track and then route your two mono tracks to that bus. Unless you want to use two different amps. In which case I would use two different amps on the mono tracks and then route that to the bus for the remainder of the effects.
@ripperthecrooks64283 ай бұрын
@MillerMusic thank you and you can also route only 1 mono track to a bus track which will make it stereo for the FX of the amp sim I guess

Had them for a long time in my tele but changed to a lollar special for a more classic tele sound again 😆. Hot rails are great if you want a big soundwall of filling fat riffs.
