The very first time I walked in the turf, I looked straight ahead and there was jeff grosso playing the pinball, he looked over at me I think because the sunlight was let in and maybe blocked the vision of the pinball lol idk I was 13. I met Steve alba, and I think spidey, and Jason Jesse i believe. I bought the new corey Obrien that day and Steve signed it. Yeah, would love to know where that deck is now😢

It's sad about what happened to the place. The park and the nearby neighborhood is a hotspot for gang activity.

I remember the movie Rad when those biker dudes would do their little stuff in the pipe and then come out and leg stall up on the fence. That was pretty cool even tho I was a skater and couldn’t stand those biker dudes haha.

3:44 I'm sure glad they cut off the footage of the bikini girls there as it was starting to get too ethnic.

I still have my green I.D with my picture on it that said Turf I got to find it, I was like 5 6 years old, we had a big crew I was youngest but we would ride our skateboards all the way from 30th and National all the way to loomis I think that’s a long ride anyway imagine being 5”6 trying keep up with the older kids. lol I was scared to drop in from the big key hole. lol

The craziest thing about the older days of skateboarding is how we all just gravitated to each other without phones or internet if you had a board you were one with everyone that skated and that’s it

I spent countless hours here as a kid. These planters definitely weren't designed for skateboarding but how cool is it that this spot and that crater/volcano design would end up influencing so many skate park designers all over the world. Learn your skate history kids..

Didn't know Jim Gray skated that well, hitting 10 o'clock or higher on every turn in the pipe. Even the Gray slide looks sick (seemed dorky in photos).

Awesome vid. Lotsaa Shredding. I broke your G&S board in half back in 86 on a curb cut. Traded some Kryto wheels for the deck. I think I sat in the rain. Oh well. Great shape.

Are used to go there all the time as a kid I lived right down the street going through the creek bed even when the water park was there man I remember we used to sneak in there when it finally closed and we were using it and when it filled up with water it was pretty scary. Sometimes you couldn’t get out somebody had to throw your road so while I was the man we had some great times there in the wave and then also the BMX track at the YMCA in Orange on my God man so great times now we don’t have any of that gotta go to the skate park far away and I don’t even know where a BMX track is anymore.
