In 90' I took a taxi straight from navy boot camp to the Turf because I knew it probably be my only chance to skate such a rare place. Back then this was one of three functioning concrete parks east of Mississippi. The other two being Kona and The Edge in Florida.

I love how cautious everyone is in the clover, it was so damn slippery. The locals confidence blew me away, I felt like I was going to die at all times..

I skated there from about 88-93. Last time I skated there my friend broke his shin bone in the clover. Bones popped out his calf and had to close it for the day. Blood in the bottom of the pool. Emt’s pulled him out.

So great to see this. Awesome memories of a special season in skateboarding- and the joy and raw passion of skaters in the 80's. We had many great memories taking the church van from Downers Grove IL, loaded with talented hungry skaters, up to Turf. The TURF was special!

Was there in the summer of 1980.Jay Adams was giving kids punk cuts in the bath room. First real introduction to punk rock. Great memories. RIP Surf and Turf

Those were the days. I lived in Rockford and was 12 when this was made. Never got a chance to skate the turf, but was lucky enough to skate Rotation station a lot.

Gawd, Louodee! I Love those Tracker Copers!! Slidin' the Lip t'as one of my Fave move+groove (I had a Krypto Foamie, w/P-tex base, so, the Rock, Slide & Roll was My move in '79!!) Also, the quick Reverts, those led to true twin shapes in Bowl-sk8ing, eventually. This is great footage, and, hey, send it to Jack Smith! 'PSR'
