I'm a classically trained singer and I've listened to this live version easily a hundred times. Every time I react the same way. It's very similar to your reaction. The tone and clarity of his voice, the build, then the power, going back into that pure sound is magic. Love it!!!

Given all the genres of music he could sing so majestically, I'd say he's the best though these things are all subjective. of course. But from that VOICE to his LOOKS and more, other stars just seem to pale when next to him. In fact, what Simon said to Garfunkel - after seeing this particular presentation or one right during these couple of weeks - is quite funny. As he said "What the F are we going to do now?" Since when Elvis sang a song, he quite often made people think it was his. (Such as with My Way, etc.)

I've been listening to it perhaps 7 or 8 times since yesterday when I discovered it. The actual video, and also some reactions. Your's is wonderful, I could feel the emotion at the end and shared it with you, almost tears of joy and of pure musical emotion. He's such a great musician composer harmonist and simple man, we love Jacob.

You are obviously so much more than just these Jacob Collier reactions, but I hope you know how special it is to share these songs with you. I come back to these frequently and check a couple times a year for new ones.

I imagine it didn't take long for the word to spread he does this and every choir singer in every city lines up for tickets. Perfect song for it.

If you haven't saw what inspired Jacob to do this, check out Bobby McFerrin on World Science Festival showing the power of pentatonic scale. Jacob loves Bobbie's work and he inspired him to do this. Vulfpeck did the harmony stuff in their Back Pocket song live in Madison Square Garden. The audience also knows all the words to Dean Town which is an instrumental bass leading song, but it works somehow. Funny thing about that concert is they gamed the streaming platforms with an album of silent song where their fans would just play that album constantly and they funded the concert with the money earned from that. Edit. You did see Bobby, of course, you know your stuff. Please check out Vulfpeck.

Thank you very much for your honest sensitivity, which is a rare find among teachers and for the fact that I have just enjoyed this artpiece as much as you did. We are all blessed with Jacob being here, hope he never ceases to amaze us. Thank you for this First Reaction, I liked it a lot.

Thanks so much John Henny. You are spot on. Ronnie was the greatest metal vocalist of all time. And he loved his fans so much. He was generous with his time. And oh how grateful we all are for his music. R.i.p. Ronnie James .

ive watched maybe 1000 reaction channels over the years and have a pet peeve with "i didn't expect that" By definition, it means they went in with expectations you are the first to use something more appropriate " I didn't see that coming" "I couldn't have predicted that" would be equally OK well done SIR

It occured to me when listening to the Sretensky Monastery singing Cherubic Hymn by Lvovsky that it reminded me of Jacob directing audiences particularly in this video- the measured tempo, the chord changes. And then he one ups it by adding orchestra and the trio of voices over the top. Priceless.

I agree completely, this is not "Im driving my car" music. I am required, the music demands, that I stop in my tracks and listen. He is profoundly gifted. This is the kind of music that will be played 200 years and more from now, just as the great composers of the past are revered today.

Just found your video. Did you know that the lead vocalist is an opera trained singer? Tenor I believe. And during this performance he had the flu or some cold. And also insisted on no autotune. If you watch the first few seconds he looks off to the left puzzled. Because they started to add auto tune and he was like uhhh nope, I got this!

The crazy thing about this is that Jacob arranged the lead vocals for each artist to fit into the backing vocals (there's a video showing him giving Tori her runs, which was sick).
