I totally agree with your view on this transit issue. Also, myself being disabled. That brings many other topics up. Like funds towards healthy update, no transportation that funding is also available. All of you really paid for that was just to supply the demand. That was just an idea?

Why didn't George Town get a metro line? You can get to the metro to Rosslyn across the river or you can go to Dupont Circle but not to George Town (which has a University which has been there since the 1800).

I like particularly that you mentioned the "externalities", meaning positive impacts to the economy and the challenges this means, in terms of communication/PR ; oftentimes, we hear about managing welfare such as public transit with the eyes of a management accountant, whereas a holistic view is much more accurate and useful.

I live in Oak Park, a suburb just west of the City. Going in - a breeze. I can take the ike, the metra, or green and blue lines. However, if I want to go to Evanston it takes FOREVER since there are no highways or trains getting there. There needs to be a north-south option!

Busses were always inferior for getting around a city compared to trolleys but the switch was intentional to force cities to become car centric. Which is one of the worst things to happen to American cities.

Did you adjust your figures for inflation? It's not really relevant to compare transit costs/km on projects that are built decades apart.

As someone from NW Ontario (Thunder Bay), it's nice to see Porter's survival and quick expansion. It's the only airline that flies out of here multiple times a day and at a reasonable price, too.

I am a farmer in a rural state. I don't really much care about internal city issues. What I really want is trains that will connect cities to cities. If I have to go to Chicago, for example, to connect to a train to visit my grandfather in Philadelphia or I have to get to San Francisco to visit my aunt, I have to depend on buses to even get to the tracks. There shouldn't be such gaps between say Oklahoma City and the Southwest Chief, or Boise and literally anything in every direction. Any European will point out the absurdity of this.

I heard Leap shutdown because they took out the ADA Ramp in the front of the bus. Like, they bought the buses with the ramps... and then purposely took them out. So, they provided a service that could not accommodate all riders. ADA Violation. Instead of fixing the problem, just shut down. Other reason too, but I heard the city came down hard over the missing ramps.

This video is my introduction to your channel. I like what I’m seeing. But I suggest working on your avatar branding. The yellow zoomed-out jet with moose antlers looks less like a jet with antlers and more like a sour/pinched face. That doesn’t strike a positive/friendly image, in my opinion.

Your profile picture doesn't, either. Maybe you should take your own advice. The brain in your photo implies the comment is written by someone having one. You clearly missed the memo. They have more views and subs than you do.

2 B is a lot of money. But it's nothing compared to the cost of constant road-maintainance, additional lanes needed for car traffic just to be less than bearable during rush hours.

You really need to do one about Lisbon’s Metro and Lisbon’s rail services as a whole… Porto’s metro is vastly superior to Lisbon’s… Lisbon is sold to the world as a progressive touristy city but, for me, as a native, it’s one of the most (if not the most) inefficient European capital cities in what comes to public transportation. Absolutely car centric… Take a look at how isolated some suburban areas north of the city are badly served by rail, or the way that the light rail/metro is disconnected between the city and the south of the river, or the way some major technological hubs like Taguspark, Lagoas Park or Quinta da Fonte are completely isolated in terms of rail… it’s badly fascinating…

Never ridden a leap bus but did ride a Chariot van back when I worked In SF. Back in 2018 I was still with my ex girlfriend. She thought I was crazy, a broke guy can afford to ride a microtransit van. After Leap went bankrupt everyone tried to get the vehicles because they make a good RV.

*just a note on political shenanigans: the junta is the mayor of one parish (I don't think this is the word, but they're a smaller subsection of a municipality), together, they form the câmara municipal, which governs a municipality. In the case of Porto Metropolitan area, we are talking about 17 municipalities, and 10x more parishes, each of them with their own junta. So yea, intermunicipal cooperation gets messy, especially if the mayors are from different parties and/or election year is coming soon Anyway, nice video, I learnt a lot of things about my own city. I'll be subbing!

Clearly, the EU just passes on the money from additional state debt of the Netherlands, Germany and Austria. Portugal did not "clean up" the city's debt either, but just passed on that debt to the very same countries under a snow ball system called NextGenEU. There is no benefit for their citizens to pay for a tram line that is 2.000 km away from where they live. The Flying Moose intentionally miscalculates the public funding in skipping interest and the value of the land needed to operate a tram system. Moreover, it excludes the operational losses, as the users of any tram system can be sure to never have to cover its cost. Videos like these straw sand in the eyes of citizens of other big cities who then urge their elected representatives to finance tram lines and grab the money (and the interest) from citizens and tax payers far away.
