I was in the middle of this game, when troubadour and spirit caller arrived and I never completed this one. But it seems it had unique features that I couldn't remember until now 😮

I got this game for Christmas in 2003. I was expecting a card game, but I didn't mind what this game did. Though, it took me over 30 minutes just to finish each level. And Moisture Creature I had to look up online to figure out how to unlock.

This was my first Yu-Gi-Oh game ❤ I can't remember well... But I think that I used to play an exodia deck, or play and farm against a rare hunter .. it was easy dp

The story and all the "mystery" about obtaining cards in this game made it one of the best. I love it ❤

2008 is one of my favorites, it was so exciting unlocking the characters and dueling with them in tag duels and against them. Unlocking the duel disks was awesome. There was a goal of playing for 200 hours to unlock a character, can't remember who... But I achieved that by keeping the game on, meanwhile I used to do my homework, then... I kept playing and reached like 400 hours after that 😅 I feel so nostalgic nostalgic.

I think they are all lost but I had all 3 games as a kid, I assume dad bought them for the cards

As a yugioh anime fan first, I actually loved the single player mode of 2008. It actually does have a storyline to it, and iirc the games final areas are basically hell and heaven. It had a lot of charm. Reminded me a lot of the third major arc of GX when they go to the duel monsters world. I was actually taken aback to hear you say it sucked.

I really wish they continued with this game's engine. Very fast AI and pretty decent moves (not perfect, but it meets my expectations of an AI). Unlike in 2009-2011 where all of a sudden the AI needs ages to think, and I have no idea what all that thinking's used for as the AI makes noticably worse moves as well (to the point of sometimes making moves so bad they're just unacceptable). I know Synchros compiicated the gameplay, but surely it can't have had such a big impact? And besides, enemies without a single Extra Deck monster have the exact same problem.

I believe this is going to be in the Yu-Gi-Oh early days collection in February.

You could text the Yugioh Online phone number for duel pass points too. This was pre-smartphone days so I as a kid didn't have a phone and would have to keep asking my mum to text the number (for about 1-2 gbp) for duel pass points lol. Good times, I also had some really fun duels on it, and love the avatar creation, wish more Yugioh games had avatar creation.

Is this game worth playing before Tag Force? They seem quite similar

To me, Tag Force 3 is more about what is happening after season 4 than season 3 and 4 in themselves. That's probably why it is my favorite YGO game, it gives Misawa and Rei some meat to their story. They were almost non existent in the show...

This is actually one of my favs. Especially single duels, its nostalgic and I love the egyptian aesthetic and music. Love building OG decks and character decks. <3 I play this a lot when I dont have anything else to play. The grind is hard but the cards feel earned.

Great retrospective on the GX era videogame WC's, Youd think the singleplayer would just feature the GX cast in a tournement setting (simple story setup & trains the players by mirroring the actual tournement) ,but nope, duel monsters playing themselves it is, A bit harsh to call it soulless tho, dont do my bony boy skull servant like that

This game for me will always be synonymous with standing in line at the Eiffel Tower. Only been to Paris the once, when I was quite young, and I remember the line for the Eiffel Tower climb was really long, so I spent a fair bit just playing this game on my DS at the time, lol. I think I preferred the older rpg game Yugioh The Sacred Cards, but I still had a ton of fun on this one too, and I adore the topscreen's look! Fun retrospective.

I know we all know the game has changed over the years, but WOW, looking at the decks shown at 11:50 it's like... When you don't see someone for a while and notice how much they've changed, but they don't notice because they see themselves every day. Man, Konami really needs to give us an alternate timeline Yugioh CG or something, one that remains as battle focused as the old game.

All you needed to do with that beast deck is farm beautiful beast tamers from tristan. The second you start using mass buffs it's gg, and the ai is super easy to beat tbh. Peagsus literally cheats but even then with a good deck its gg.

goat format is definitely the best non-custom yugioh format to me. When i play casually i generally play GOAT format with a slightly expanded card pool (cards like zera the mant and others that were out in the OCG years prior that have no real impact on the meta and were present in the original anime seem completely valid to me) and am happy to gentlemans agreement out of cards like delinquent duo or royal magical library if someone prefers that. The lack of bloated mechanics and card pool of mostly classic cards is definitely the best thing going for it. and i prefer to play with zany decks like flute dragon or black luster ritual anyway

I LOVE this game, but it was always unfortunate how tough it was to get the really really good cards and how much grind it was to level up your leader and stuff like that. Would love a remake of this game.

Yu-Gi-Oh World Championship 2008 with the cheats enabled is prolly one of my favorite games. But the music really sucked in this game. The only song I liked was ironically the losing theme.

Actually you can change a cards alignment by trying to equipt it with a card that doesn't equip to it
