I want to use mithrils but it hasn't been updated in couple of years, and has over 100 outstanding issues on github. It makes me think that the framework is is no longer maintained (or at least actively), and it will eventually die. I think htmx or hotwire is the future with simplicity and elegance.

Looking at Mythril docs it seems like it’s made mostly for simple apps with little to no logic behind. After many years working with React I don’t see many alternatives. I think the way Mythril works might be very similar to recent trend of Signals but will see how it goes

Amazing video as always Marko. Love it! A side hustle can simply start by an open source project or contributing to a few you enjoy using, which is already a big step. And the open source project you own is yours, free to publish or sell later on if you wish. Then you could write a programming ebook about it, and finally tell your journey on social media or document it in a blog post.

Normalisation does have the advantage of saving disk space but the question is, was normalisation designed with the main goal of saving disk space? I don't think so. I'd argue that the main design goal was avoiding data inconsistency due to data redundancy over space efficiency. So I personally wouldn't claim that "normalisation" was designed as a means to save disk space.

For others out there, normalization isn't there just because of "limited disk space". The reduction of data duplication is to help prevent anomalies (i.e.: potential corruption) from inserts, updates and deletes. I'm sure Marko knows that, but for those just learning, that's another aspect to why normalization is often done.

Man, I've been looking at laptop videos lately and this got recommended. I was getting more and more confused, then the confusion peaked when you pulled out the laptop, and the screen showed a macOS-like UI. "What Linux DE is this?" It took me too long to figure out you weren't talking about Framework laptops. Great video still!

I've spent 10 years working as a freelancer. I've never worked 9 to 5 for anyone. And my freelance work hasn't been great the last 4 years. So I'm 29 years old and just got my first job, working 9am to 6pm... I'm super worried, also I have a wife and baby so really not sure how this is gonna work, I'm going to earn 50% of what I need from this job and the other 50% from freelance work, and I have no idea where I'm going to get the time for family and also freelance work...

I tried your free window manager, if you can make the window to expand only in its box that would be a game changer. Right now if you are on youtube and expand the video whilst in window manager mode the expansion takes the whole screen instead of its own managed screen.

Hmm i just noticed i used mongodb like a sql db with refs all over place lol. So usage of mongodb for ecommerce i would save actual user data in documents where they are always used together, keep track of that use cases and update all of them if user changed these data, correct?

Hey that's a good question! If you have a very high number of reads and you are always reading a few documents together, it makes sense to just bundle them up in a single document. But if you don't have very many reads, it's not worth it.

Hi Marco! I'm studying to be a developer and I have to write notes to myself a lot, I was wondering what you used to take notes when you were studying? What’s better for learning, writing in notebook or in Notion for example? Want to know your opinion ;) p.s. Sometimes there's a feeling that if you write in a notebook, you memorize better.

Software development is a super power. Once you land a job you eventually end up building someone else's dream software business with your skills. Why not try build your own alongside what you do for them. Then you could have your own business and work for your boss because you want to not because you have to

Having a purpose is a great thing to have, but it doesn't have to be monetary. You can do something just because you enjoy doing it.

Of course the best things in life are free, meaning they can’t be bought with money. However, money is a way of communicating value. Do something that is valued by others and they will communicate that value to you via money. In this respect, money is a gauge of value, that gives us feedback on how others value us, our time, our efforts etc.
