16:20 Actually yes Spelljammer being canon means that there are thousands of worlds that a given god may be worshipped on, and possibly hundreds of adventuring parties on all of them at any given time. Spelljammer also cleanly explains how there are so many evil greater dieties. Thousands of planets with 10k worshippers on each planet is a lot of followers, especially when you take into accounts that almost every planet has an underdark, and a Feywild and Shadowfell, both of which would also have their own Underdarks, meaning that any given world can have up to 6x the population than would be initially percieved.

I'm currently running my first homebrew campaign and let me tell you, linear storytelling has done wondors for me. It makes things very easy to track for both me and my players (who are also new) and let's me guide them towards significant choices I have planned in the story we are telling. Making them feel like they're contributing to and making a difference in the story while also allowing me to prepare for whatever they choose to do ahead of time. All in all it's still really enjoyable for everyone and makes DMing alot less of a headache than I was anticipating :)

When I made my campaign I had the same approach and went for fewer god but ridiculous powerful. I went with 4 gods that could destroy the world if they fight so this is the reason they don’t. They want to be THE only god but they can’t fight bcz it wouldn’t have a world to rule if they did. Later I introduced someone who COULD be a god and wanted to destroy everything so the gods had to join forces to avoid that outcome and use the Players as the means to it. It’s very easy and I always like to keep it at a maximum of 5 gods with very broad concepts tied to it as it makes everything so much easier then have to make a god for every little thing (like smithing, magic, etc.) and instead make the god that is tied to wisdom the one who embodies magic

I wish warlocks weren't casters. Make them like a Pathfinder kineticist but with eldritch blast instead of kinetic blast then give more invocation options specifically for out of combat utility options and spell like abilities

6:36, the Oopsie Undead Origin Story. Kipu-Men, being immune to most magic, with the exceptions of Healing, Poison, or Magic casted by another Kipu-men or a member of the other Zarvanian Races, will generally not have an Oopsie Undead story happen to them. But if a Kipu-Men somehow ends up undead, they will try to find a living relative to commune with and tell them “Hey, I have been undeaded, and so, I need you to complete my errands for me before I transcend into the afterlife, thx.”

The dragon patron transformation idea can be expanded quite a bit to encourage more Eldritch Invocation usage: What if the patron can restore spent Warlock spell slots...BUT it comes at the cost of sliiiightly transforming the Warlock just a bit into that patron's creature type? These "boon slots" can add an additional Charisma modifier to the spells used to give them a HUGE amped up level of power for desperate situations, but said desperation is what the patrons want, and is a DM gold mine for roleplaying scenarios. The more times this massive power amped is called upon, the more a DM is allowed to assert patron-oriented demands upon the Warlock as their own powers expand but they're losing themselves as the cost. Kind of like a weaker Divine Intervention with long-term consequences. Party is about to wipe? The Warlock can call upon this boon to save them, but they're now closer to becoming something they've been avoiding and in the long term that might bite the party in the ass. The patron can scramble certain character proficiencies to become more Devil/Undead/Fae like the more this is used, with the ultimate consequence being complete transformation and thralldom. It would also be a great opportunity to insert half-thralled fellow Warlocks as NPCs either warning to not use this too much, or reveling in the transformation's power to tempt the player Warlock into using it more. If the patron is a villain, using this too much can cause the Warlock to require rolling saving throws to make actions, or turn the Warlock completely into a minion who can only be freed by the party by defeating the patron as a boss (with the added flavor of trying not to kill their friend who might have saved them several times by resorting to the boons).

So your problem with dragons are that they are not utilized well by most people, they are popular and you don't care for them. This can be applied to most things that are commonly used in fantasy games like gods, vampires, elves and orcs. For example, I don't care much for the zombie as they are literally just walking corpses specifically designed to be mobs but one can make interesting things based around it if one thinks things through when they introduce them in a game setting.

Coming to video one after watching late-game Pointyhat. His volume throughout reminded me of National Geographic, which is funny. Also: I think horny bard is HILARIOUS, especially when he DOESN’T get laid. That dogged persistence is a source of hilarity I use in my own writing (whole-ass fictional stories, not DnD campaigns)

Kipu-Men (Thirdlings/Tiny Folk) generally don’t fight. They are pacifistic in nature, and so they may not be super good at fighting, but their negotiation skills are unrivaled by anyone (even the Elvaran, who are Zarvanian Elves & with the Kipu-Men in a group known as the Zarvanian Races). Kipu-men are also very nomadic and are constantly on the move. And even though they are Pacifistic in nature, they do have self defense methods if they cannot escape a threat that most likely wants to kill them even though their is no legitimate reason to. Kipu-men are terrible at physical hand to hand combat, but are exceptional with the use of firearms, or Guns. They use their guns for Two purposes: For Hunting, and for a Last Resort Self Defense method. Usually, if a Kipu-men is faced with a threat or situation that could get them killed, their immediate reaction is to Run, Run Away as Fast and as Far as they can physically go, and then find a good hiding spot to avoid detection.

In a recent campaign I ran some Shadows as the first enemy the party ran into. 8 players vs. 4 shadows at level 1. Two characters flat out died, the six survivors had about 7 hit points between them, and at least one pc was brought to her knees crying as she watched her friend die in horrific fashion. The only reason they survived was that their Warlock had absolutely min-maxed his Eldritch blast and was able to snipe the shadows as the rest of the party retreated. It was rough for them, but it was a great intro for the campaign! All the survivors were very motivated to hut down the Wraith who spawned them. Moral: Shadows are *cracked* but are great for a horror campaign

I think you're conflicting one core mechanic of DnD. In every campaign, you have your own set of gods, and like the planes, not all "official" DnD gods are there, or accesable. There might only be 3 gods lurking over the city of Flagoroth, or only 1 important god in The sacred seas. Even if you go to the extremes, gods don't show themselves, just because you are powerful. And there are always many things they could be doing, it's not always that they're going to interact with the players, because they're defending they're home. Or working on their followers

Autognome Circle of the Moon Druid, you are basically the ultimate "beast machine". I played a odd druid, circle of the moon halfling. I used my druid magic to make deals with farmers and take over their farms in exchange for paying them a monthly rate. Took over poor land that barely sustained them (In Phandalin). Then got the rest of it over time. Used adventuring

Main problem with DnD gods: too many cookie-cutter human gods. It is annoyingly anthropocentric, with every other species having a tiny pantheon that feels wimpy compared to the hordes of gods humans have. And so very uncreative. These are gods. They can take any form they want to. Yet not a single one of them shows enough imagination to appear as anything else than a human. Can we, just once, have a deity who always takes a form of an animated armor? Or maybe the classic, formless glowing orb? And deities should, for the most part, be universal. No separate pantheons for each species, but rather it should be each species picking their favorites from the main pool of deities.

I don't know where I heard it, but the creation myth I use for the Orcs is very similar. Gods were splitting up the world and left Gruumsh out for being a raging jerk, he finally shows up to see he gets nothing but the badlands and throws a fit gouging his own eye out. He tosses his eye out into the badlands and the splatter of viscera created the first orcs, forever feeling the baleful eye of the creator god over their shoulder as they wage war against the world in his name. Also why does the game have to change, when as you show here in the video players can change whatever they want as they see fit. These videos could be simply say here's how I choose to run these things, instead of the game needs to change cause it doesn't line up with how I think it should be. It's a bit silly, play and enjoy your game as you see fit

I feel like most of Hat's issue with dragons can be shortened as "5E being 5E". Dragons used to be spellcaster and have a lot of utility spells in the past and hoards weren't an afterthought but clearly defined style of hoard per dragon. With green dragons for example hoarding peoples.
