This literally the defense that the Pistons ran in the 80s when quick guards began to be an integral part of the offense.

This team is ridiculously deep also. When Pat and Khris get back guys like Hill, Marjon, Wes and Nwora will get less minutes. But 3 of those guys are spark plug players. Wes is very good and pesky on the defensive end, wouldn't be surprised to see the bucks go back to him in a playoff team with multiple good guards like the Celtics. And Nwora has a sneaky good offensive game

Love the Bucks and the way they dominate …. However, I feel like many teams don’t peak until late in the season. Until then we can’t compare teams. Bucks are serious contenders for the NBA championship provided no major injuries in the rooster….. go Bucks 🦌 🦌

Great video. I never realized how unique the bucks lineup is when it seems everybody is going wing heavy due to the flexibility and attempting to play positionless.

When Kris and Ingles return we will see Hill and Nwora more sidelined, MarJon will be contesting for Bobby or Giannis minutes, if Bucks stay healthy they probably have sorted with this new defence scheme the demons of the past.I'm glad Coach Budd started using his brain a bit more. Last year with uncontested 3s and no Kris while everyone was shooting 10% from 3s in the Celtics series we went to game 7. What would happen if we WERE shooting 30% from 3 WHILE contesting the 3s as well?
@stanzre
@stanzre Жыл бұрын
That might work because I see them blowing out teams before the start of fourth , meaning Gianni’s is probably playing closer to 30 min instead of 35-40

The promise the Bucks don't ever seem to shoot the three ball well in the playoffs. It doesn't ever seem to matter who we have out there either it's just something that goes dry. They might be the defensive-minded approach and all the effort and energy spent on that side. God if we would have had Middleton in that series they would have won in 6 games and then beat up on the Heat
@mattdeacon9580
@mattdeacon9580 Жыл бұрын
FYI - Portis isn't taking Middleton's minutes. It's Carter, Hill, Nwora and Beauchamp. Three of these guys will leave the rotation when Middleton comes back. And Pat will take Wes's minutes. This team is ridiculously deep.

@@tron4775 I said three of those guys are going to leave the rotation, and my vote would be to roll with Carter as well, with the rook getting some spot playing time. I'm done with Nwora, and Hill needs to be a player/coach.

It'll be interesting to see if they can win with this against the trends style. When one does see a team make a sudden jump in its success level, in any sport, it's often due to it's hitting on a way of playing that goes counter to general trends in its league. Good piece.
@bowser2417
@bowser2417 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think the against the trends style will be as noticeable this season. That was just the personnel they had to play with last year. Trey murphy and Cj will space the floor a ton this year and Herb is an average 3 pt shooter. Of course with the mid range from CJ and BI and the style Zion plays with they won't be top 5 in 3pt attempts but they shouldn't be near as low this year

This is completely wrong. He's just using footages to suit his claims. The reason why it's easier to score in NBA is purely because of the rules. It's FIBA rules vs NBA rules. FIBA has more old school rules and allows physicality. It's equivalent to 80-90s NBA basketball. You can clearly see this when NBA players struggle in international competition. If you apply NBA rules in the Euroleague, it'd be much easier for them to score as well. This video is total BS.

Good video. The root of the Raptors problems on defense is the lack of a true center. All their problems are a result of compensating for this roster absence. They have to send an extra defender into the paint because they don't have a true rim-protecting bigman who can rebound all by himself (last in NBA in Defensive Rebounds). So they are willing to give up the corner-3 by sending the corner-3 defender into the paint to deter penetration and crash the boards. It's a trade-off. This problem will be largely resolved this year (moreso the following year with gained experience and strength) with the drafting of Christian Koloko (7'1"/7'5"). He becomes the rim-protector, so the wing defender can stick to his man in the corner. The fact that Koloko can also defend guards on the perimeter is going to make Nick Nurse's defensive schemes much more close to what he intended. Much more devastating. You thought they were an attacking defense before? Just wait. They will be a Top-5 defense this season. Just you watch.

@@LiveByChrist0 fine "drastically decreases" from last year. Now that we have a true centre we can close out and contest the three ball more effectively...pointedly the corner three which killed us last season. That's what I mean by watch it disappear. Cuz it wont hurt us nearly as much as it did last year.

If the team has a 3 man threat in 3s like gsw this kind of defensive is not effective this might effectively on a team has only 1 doing 3’s 1:45 clearly one is open hence the guy who having a ball hesitated to pass o. A guy wide open in 3’s because he know that the guy who open in 3’s is not good at shooting 3’s if this was gsw this defensive is useless
