These men are true warriors. Like Ali / Frazier 2 and 3 . These were wars . No shame in a loss here.

Old School sparring! Brawling in the pocket, great for conditioning and toughness and hard on the brain.

Shavers turned his whole body into that punch. There's no way Holmes should've gotten up from that... but he did. Throwing a punch you know would've taken out 90% of your opponents, only to have the guy stand up and keep fighting (and eventually winning) has got to be the most demoralizing thing ever. Shavers' spirit was broken after that.

Whether you were a fan of Larry Holmes or not, you had to have admired him for getting back up after that punch. That punch would have knocked a building down.

Jake Paul would have beat both of these guys . Jake's Left Jab and footwork is better than Holmes was, and Jake has more Punching Power than Shavers.

7:54 The way the sportscaster actually lifts Davey's head to get his attention and focus on the TV cameras is disturbing. Treating him like he's nothing more than a ratings commodity. Showing no concern about his health and not even asking him if he feels well enough to talk. He actually lifts Davey's head twice in the interview 8:52. You could see at any moment Davey is about ready to collapse. He made it as far as the dressing room before he collapsed and slipped into a coma. Never to regain consciousness again thereafter.

Marvin Gaye lost his taste for the game once Andy got stopped. That and the money slipped away in ‘79 after the bankruptcy. Andy had unusual position of having beaten Palomino and Cuevas pre titles. I think Burt Reynolds’s took over management once Gaye bailed. He was supposed to sing national anthem prior toa San Diego bout, but disappeared.
