I am in the process of planning my own 6dof sim. Yours is the first that i have found that is made with a wooden frame. I was quite surprised as that will be quite a heavy monster compared to tube steel, or extruded aluminium profile, right? How have you found that to be so far? Do you that it compromises at all on the potential sensations you feel when flying? I was also wondering how much it cost you to build your version. I can imagine is being cheaper that one would thinks as wood is cheaper than metal for the length. At least, that's how it is here in the netherlands anyway. :D Kudos on your build, man. It truely does stand out. In fact, I have watched all of your videos just to see how this thing has weathered/aged/evolved over time. It has certainly held up for you and you should be proud. I know I'm proud of you anyway. I hope that my aluminium profile idea for mine will stand out just as nicely. I'm going to be using it for both flight sim and sim racing, so my setup will have 2 corners to the front of me and one behind, a sort of rotated verison of yours. I'm thinking this will better simulate the front suspension of a vehicle better, which is the majority of what a driver gleams insight from in a real car. This leaving the rear of a vehicle feeling more vague, which i'm sure the one leverage point on the rear will handle nicely. I'm not sure a wood version would handle the intensity of some of the violent movements in sim racing, or if flying an F-14 Tomcat in DCS. I might be wrong though. Do you have any thoughts on that? As an aside, do you happen to have a schematic or something of the dimensions of your sim?

During the takeoff run, the platform did not visibly move. It should have tilted back so you would feel the acceleration. Something is not right here 🤔

First of all.. nice build my friend. I have a 3DOF I built myself. Question for you. Is there any way to capture full screen the Pimax? I have the Old CV1 rift and I cap it full screen for mixing. I'm embarking on my 6DOF Carbon flight sim so wish me luck! DMAX motion sim ch

Your back from the dead! But I went to a VR store and saw some people in a racing sim then I played some half life alyx. I think price is one thing but also space vs what it can do. I always thought it would be cool to have a hamster ball Roller sim for space, some people I saw are selling half bowl shaped sims and some are selling expensive racing chairs that actually don’t move much but move really fast.

Which software does control the movements of this cool simulator?
@boeinga3704 жыл бұрын
If you nosed dived the plane and crash it really hard, you and your flight simulator motion platform thing would probably come through the wall in your house and you’d be there trying to explain to your wife why your flight simulator has somehow ended up in the back garden and a big hole in the wall.

Got a question, building a motion sim for racing with intentions to hard mount my DK2 sensor cam on the moving platform, does the fact that it all move as one effectively cancel out the motion induced by the simulator? Ie, does the camera seeing the headset eliminated or override what data it gets from onboard accellerometers?
@Injudiciously4 жыл бұрын
Very impressive, especially the quick auctuation during the landing (or whatever that jolt was). Most of these gimbals fail miserably when it comes to sudden movement.

What is the white bungee cord for?
@TheCzechmate0074 жыл бұрын
These cords provide some force to counter the gravity and help to balance the weight the actuator needs to work with. Since these will be holding weight of the structure plus the person sitting in it, it would be too difficult for the actuator to lift the weight and also to provide enough braking force when moving down, without the help of the bungee string. This way, when you select correct bungee cords, you have almost equal resistance in the upward and downward movement of the actuator...
