Amazing. Only issue I see is your motion platform should gently return to level after you have rolled into a banked attitude. In a right bank attitude, you don't feel like you are leaning to the right. You don't fall out of your seat in a turn.

Nah it's perfect. On a plane if they bank (without pitch) gravity will s till have its effect. Imagine banking with a cup of water in front of you. If you bank 90 degrees and then stay there, is the water just going to go back to being level?

Your vestibular system in a turn soon reaches equilibrium to the extent that you think that you are straight and level, that's why you really have to trust your instruments in cloud because your senses can give you a completely incorrect picture of reality. It's basically why JFK Junior lost control of his aircraft in IMC. He wasn't trained to fly on instruments.

Have you developed the motion cueing algorithms yourself? What I find puzzling is, that your rig is going into a bank when the aircraft is turning. A real 6 DOF simulator would tilt backwards in that case to simulate the acceleration you feel longitudinally along your vertical body axis (you feel like being "pushed into your seat"). Albeit, mechanically you rig seems sound.... ;-)

+Waldo Pepper His website reads it uses BFF 6 DOF Motion software that at a quick glance uses aircraft attitude rather than actual forces. A bit surprising.

If you have hardware already, you can get it work with any game/sim if someone is already wrote plugin/code for it. Or you can write your own. And depending controller/software that drives that hardware, there are quite good amount plugins/codes for different games and sims available.

Amazing how smooth it looks! Just one thing, a motion platform should not roll left or right when you are banking in the aircraft. The motion cueing should keep the platform level when you are banking in the actual aircraft.

+TheOvlla Not much lower than normal. You just need a good computer. FSX and P3D don't really push the GPU.

+Stardrifter I was thinking the same thing. For VR to prevent motion sickness in the Oculus they say you have to have a minimum of 60fps so it remains smooth. The screen he's showing is stuttering and looks like it's running at 20fps. It's making me sick just thinking about wearing an Oculus while playing this on his computer

+Hardcaslte The recording slows it down. In fact it is quite good. Oculus-Rift-Rendering (flyinside-fsx) almost 75fps, FSX-Rendering depends on scenery, but mostly around 50fps

I'm interested in making a "roll cage" sort of thing for flight sims, but I don't have a mechanical/structural engineering degree so I hesitate to even start the thing.
