In a nutshell, we reject God because we want to do what we want to do. Believing in a God means we need to adhere to rules/boundaries.

Two Situations: Case 1: Two identical cars collide head-on, each traveling at 60 miles per hour. Case 2: An identical car traveling at 60 miles per hour collides head-on with an immovable concrete wall. Question: Which accident is worse?

Pascal's wager has a fatal flaw. It assumes that God would act like a stupid boss. Intelligent bosses despise sycophants and appreciate free thinkers. Since God would be the most intelligent boss possible, he'd condemn the believers and reward free thinking atheists with eternity in heaven instead.

I wonder if people with high IQ does better in life is because we arranged our modern life such that people with high IQ have an advantage there, but in other type of society, say pte-industrial society, they would fair as typical IQ people or even less. Not to deny the finding of IQ in Psychology science, I believe in the finding of Thomas Sowell, which argued in favor of culture, rather than enviroment, associated with the success in IQ test, education and life in general. He argues that it is not how much money the familiy had during one childhood, or other environmental circumstances, such as early life health problems, poor neighborhood, etc. it is rather did one had a stable familiy with both parents active in one's childhood and growing up, did the family and the greater community intilled the values of self worth and self resilience or self worthlessness and victimhood, did the culture valued education and achievements or the opposite.

Raise two kids in the same environment and you’ll understand very quickly that genetics plays a huge role in who they become.
@silverlinings3946
@silverlinings3946 8 күн бұрын
Unless these are identical twins whose caregivers always provide equal care at the same time, environment will always be different for siblings. First child has no siblings. Subsequent children have siblings and older parents. Economic situation of family changes. Parents might stay at home more or less, all this makes envitonment different. Even the environment in utero is different for first and subsequent children. Mother might be differently affected by pregnancy, because of her external environment and the genes of the baby itself. And don't forget, genes are switched on and off by environmental factors also. The above is a very narrow view, probably in an effort to make people pay for genetic testing.

Is it genetics or epigenetics? Surely at 99.5% the same, its more about whether some genes have been switched on or not by the environment they live in , (ie the body)🤷‍♀️ Not that i know much, just asking .

All children in BORN in whatever environment are very smart, the only difference is what you feed to the child while growing, food and skills, if you decide to teach a kid a skill from young age, he will be a master of that trade, but if you feed the chikds minde with nothing, the child will succumb to a unforseen future. Samples Dr Dre and his turn tables, Eminem, pointing out popular figures. So this theory doesnt make sense and it is pure evil, children are born without memory and without any harm in their minds. So stop the BS

Ask him where does he gets the data from? Last time I check psychology doesn't usr biometrics, they use theory and observations, adding dalt to the wound they do not and cannot know what goes in anyones brain, but are very quit to prescribe mental illness meds just to stay relevant. Ooh, one observation to the observers, test are done on the mentally challenge people, those that are or were placed in psychiatric hospita, and test are done on criminals. The results you get are then genetalized onto population. Simpke fact is, they can make, subdue criminals and mentally challenged people that are under their supervision, but never the general populatiin. What he says are lies

Determinism is a cop out. It is a linguistic trap because realistically, you could say any event is pre-determined. It's a pseudo theory, because it can't ever be falsified. Practical application of determinism is also dangerous - I can never be held morally responsible for my actions because I am a product of my upbringing boohoo. It provides an excuse for poor behaviour in society.
@4jchan
@4jchan 3 күн бұрын
Your actions are determined by your motives that's how you are responsible but NOT ultimately responsible. To be ultimately responsible would mean that your existence would have to be eternal. You have to consider secondary causes which are part of determinism.

The thing that has always made me think their theories are b.s., is how in the eff do they always have an exact number of how old the universe is. 13.8 billion years old. Come on now. Were you there when it first came into existence. And you cannot measure light to tell how old the universe is. All this is arbitrary gobbly-gook. The universe could be fairly new or even older than they suppose.

Both compatibilism and incompatibilism leads to the logical conclusion that nobody has ultimate control of their actions or choice. Like the person said in the video where does the motive or intention come from? Ultimately from outside the agent or it is by chance. Someone can be responsible because they made a choice based on motives. But the person is not ultimately responsible for his actions
