That is such a cool wagon. I love the anticipation of all the parts being collected and stockpiled.

Here mainly for the Minis but I am enjoying the odd Volvo content too. Looking forward to seeing what you do with this one. Looks like a great survivor but not so rare or special that it would be sacrileges to put your own stamp on it! 💪
@SimpsonsClassics4 ай бұрын
Don’t worry mini content is coming on the 89 mini and others. This old Volvo is rare enough these days being a square light car but I will make her my own that’s for sure. Thanks for watching 👍

Love the wheels! I agree with you about KYB & Febi Bilstein being good quality parts. I use them on my minis & have just replaced all the suspension on my Focus ST170 & it drives absolutely lovely now. Keep up the good work & I look forward to your future videos 👍

Cheers Tony. Glad you agree about the parts. There is always a budget but also don’t want to bolt to much crap to the car. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more 👍

As I've said before, I'm a big fan of originality and best affordable finish: I don't go for the patinated look or lowering, but it's your car and you are entitled to call the shots. You have already invested quite a lot in new parts, and I'm sure that you will need plenty more, so I wish you good luck with the project and I hope that you don't find any nasty problems with the engine or transmission. Best wishes.
@SimpsonsClassics4 ай бұрын
The main aim of this is to see the car moving again. We can make another plan for the body later down the line. As for the lowering it wasn’t first on my list but the springs where free as mentioned. So they are better than the ones on there. Thanks for watching as ever buddy 👍

Great video marc. Loving the Volvo content. Have got the 740 finished now. Just a headlight and wing to swap at some point.

Thanks buddy. Yes I heard about the 740, glad you have managed to get it all fixed 👍
@Slippingclutches914 ай бұрын
@@SimpsonsClassics Yeah I was upset about that. Then I realised it's just a light and a wing. Got it back together to use it. Should be getting a colour coded wing for it soon. Friends have located one.

Looking forward to your future videos on this car. Living in an area where frost heaves, potholes and ridged centers of lanes are frequent I myself am not about to lower any car but interested in how you will go about doing it. (Also lost my first 245 to a road excavation that turned out to be deeper than initially thought, bottoming out on a jagged piece of pavement, knocking the engine out of it's mountings and bending the frame and oilpan. It was a 1984 that I had owned since original for 22 years. It was closing in on 200k miles.)
@SimpsonsClassics4 ай бұрын
Thanks George the car won’t be to low. As I want to use the car and also have pot holes to dodge. I just want her to sit a little nicer plus the springs where free and in better condition that the current ones.

Nice to see it's going to get some TLC. Had a 1989 240GLT auto estate for 10 years and was a good reliable car. Sold at 234,000 miles and ran perfect. Now have a 1996 940 LPT auto estate. Best £250 I paid for it in 2016. Rebuilt the front suspension. Never done anything as big as this but enjoyed doing it. Even getting the blowtorch and stilsons to the strut nut. Also got the AC to finally hold a charge! Look forward to updates.

Banded steels are the way to go. I have a white 1989 244 running adjustable coilovers all round with black banded steels. 10J rear and 9J front. Slight stretch to the rear tyres and they fit under the arches well. Looking forward to how this comes out. My plan is for bags too at some point..
@SimpsonsClassics3 ай бұрын
I do plan to have some steels made later down the line, right now its a case of getting the car on the road. It sounds like we have the same taste with styling I love the plans for your 244 also, hopefully catch you at a event at some point :)

The wheels look fine. I don’t think it would be worthwhile changing them to banded steel wheels. I’m struggling to see the point of air ride now that you have fixed the suspension. The 245 looks nice.
@SimpsonsClassics4 ай бұрын
Glad you like the wheels. These are all long term plans so won’t be happening for some time. Air ride is just something do like and also want to explore as another project to try out.

The interior looks really nice Marc, can that engine take a turbo-assist kit?
@SimpsonsClassics4 ай бұрын
It’s really come up nice and all I have done is hoover it so far it needs a good clean etc yet. This engine could take a turbo yes but would be better to put a later red block in there to do this. Engine plans are still being made. Right now she just needs to move

Mate , this is a good time to start working & stop waffling , you have friends who helped you b4 on the other Volvo & mini , so why not call on them to help again if you only have six full days , you will have to supply the Coffee/Tea & bacon rolls ( my favourite) The wheels would be last on the list , as all others have higher Priority , good luck 😳

The video was purely to set the plan. More coming very soon. The wheels like mentioned where bought as they literally cost the price of new tires which I needed so it was a no brainer. Thanks for watching.
