I'm pretty sure I had stage 1 of lipedema after my pregnancy. Suddenly my arms became very sore when touched and my legs started appearing bumpy in front. I was also 15 kilos heavier than before. When my daughter was 2 years old I was sure I needed to fix the way I looked and felt. I had no idea of lipedema and simply thought it was worsened cellulite. I started exercising daily (from 15 min to 50: some cardio, some stretching, some weights), fixed my diet, started intermittent fasting. I've been following that regimen for last 2.5 years. Additionally, a year ago II cut dairy & sugar out of my diet due to gut issues I suffered from. The changes are extreme in my arms, they look and feel almost normal. When it comes to legs, they're overall smaller but I struggle to get rid of some small amounts of stubborn fat around my knees and in front of my thighs. However, that fat feels more less normal when touched so I hope it is just buildup of 'regular' fat and some cosmetics treatment/machine may actually help. In a nutshell, I think this is heavily manageable in early stages and consistency in maintaining the right lifestyle choices can help reduce that. I think IF, diet, exercise all have played an enormous role in my progress - my blood results are also very good - I believe what happened is my body has simply healed itself...

Love the information. I have a new goal. I started my movement journey when I could walk. Vibration pad is my current movement. When it arrived I could only sit and put my feet on it. Now I can stand and as I grow stronger and my balance improves there are numerous routines to do. Now I have an exciting new idea. I have a recumbent bike. Looking forward to adding this to my exercise routines as my body continues to respond to conservative treatment. Red light should arrive this week. Thank you!

I have ticked every single point you made. I’m now 54. I’m mind blown. Is it possible to reverse the stages? I have walnut sized nodules in my legs, hips and buttocks.

Keto is the worst thing I've ever done to myself. I lost most of my hair and my skin was grey, which I can see you are suffering from as well. Keto is not worth it.

Thank you for sharing your experiences! I’m learning so much from you and other KZbinrs on lipidema. I have stage one and am improving with keto and intermittent fasting and hiking. I’ve lost 50 pounds and want to lose 40 more. I also really love my shake plate. I can use it while watching TV.

I do go to the gym and will use some of the stuff you say to do. I have a stretch trainer. I am retired and go to gym as I have to do Pool exercises. I use recumbant bike at gym because I have cluneal neuralgia in my butt so my butt hurts on regular bike with regular type bike seat.

@bethreisberg4569 that's great! I'm glad it was helpful. Earlier this week Peloton actually released a new app that is designed to be used in a gym. I haven't tried it yet, but you can read more about it here: www.onepeloton.com/blog/peloton-strength-plus-app/

So excited for this video that im posting before listening... 😂.... Anyway im not sure if i have lipodema but my legs have always been unusually big for my body and I have pockets of fat that have developed over the years. Now in menopause and it seems overnight my legs and ankles are swelling. The tightness and pain in one calf is prohibiting me from certain activities... even my compression stockings hurt on some days 😭

Great video...I have a stationary bike that I hate but on your recommendation will give it a go!! Thank you 🙏
@sturdywoman3 күн бұрын
@mperez2730 thank you for your enthusiasm! I hope it lived up to your expectations :D One thought about your compression... it should provide a firm pressure but it shouldn't hurt. If it is causing you pain you might need a different size or a different style. I know knee highs always give me pain as the day goes on and I do best with full leggings that move the fluid all the way out of my legs. Let us know how it goes with your bike! <3
@watchmoivies1233 күн бұрын
So you believe is stockings to hold in the fluid?
@sturdywoman3 күн бұрын
@watchmoivies123 I always wear compression garments while exercising. It helps move the fluid up and out even more efficiently. I have more information on compression in my playlist here: kzbin.info/aero/PLGrmXtIzhSGIpYpiPSy76rpiPp7RJ5rHA

Recumbent bikes wirk better for me.
@sturdywoman3 күн бұрын
@KyDairyGoats a recumbent bike is also a great option! When I went to physical therapy for my lymphedema they preferred it over a standard bike. With your legs in a different position gravity isn't pulling *down* on them in the same way. Glad you have found something that works! <3

Thank you for this post. I am learning so much. I believe I was hit at menopause. Was scratching my head asking, "Did this happen overnight? Why is this sack of fat here that I don't remember?" Laying on side for colonoscopy was painful and my leg goes numb. Never mind the doctor's face of disgust when touching affected areas. Really, thank you for the description of the marbles.

So great to see you! Im making great strides this year. Im consistently ketovore for several years. Starting in April I’ve been consistent with weight training twice per week and walking, climbing steps and inclines 3+ days per week. Im dropping some weight, but best of all I’ve gained 3 1/2 lbs of muscle this year at age 60! Movement has made such a tremendous difference, mentally and physically. The recomposition is dramatic, even my hips are down 3” in these 8 months! Love your channel! Hope to see a lot of you in the coming year. Would love more info on movement/ exercise you enjoy and find helpful. Happy holidays!❤️

I just started using this exact garment yesterday via the help of a home health nurse. She didn’t show me how to use the machine but she set it at the lowest which she said is 25. How will I know when I can increase that number? Thank you for showing how to use this.

Definitely take massage process slowly!!! It’s important to listen to your body. It can make you very tired!! Along with residual soreness and I even had bruising. Only now realizing all my efforts on my outer thighs and hips have been maintained with gun massage for 5 years!! Just realized I have limpedema though and have been slowly addressing other areas of my body. Feeling hopeful!!!
@CaliJen10 күн бұрын
Just realizing I have lipedema!! What’s crazy is that I was able to get rid of painful “knots” on my outer thighs and hips and noticed I slimmed down those areas substantially! The pain and “knots” have stayed at bay for a few years now!! Painful… and I used a foam roller and rolling pin… as well as my hands. I realized the lipedema only recently when massaging my lower belly pooch!! Just with manual massage over about a week I’m noticing the nodules are nearly gone! I started massaging from the outside in and the difference on the sides feels amazing!! Now using gun to slowly target fat in tummy, upper arms and near knees!! I found a harder nodule near one knee that has made me more serious about this process!!

Thanks.Very helpful. I am going to keep my head flatter. I have same pump as you but I have full length legs that go all the way up to top of my thigh and the shorts. I do the shorts separate from the legs as it is difficult to get the legs off if i am wearing the shorts.and difficult to get shorts off if wearing the legs.Therefore, atTactile gave me legs tgat go to top of thigh. I started with the Entree System but that did not go high enough on my thighs.

Three places to recommend. Both Orthofeet and Hitchcock wide shoes have a good variety that go extra wide, some really cute ones too. (I sadly am in kids sizes and as much as I hoped I would fit into a 6, they're just too big and had to go back. I personally live in Billy's Footwear shoes. They were created by a guy with quadriplegia that wanted to be able to put his own shoes on and off, and are great for people with AFOs (ankle foot orthoses). I came across them because I had to wear a custom ankle brace for over a year and it barely fit in the New Balance XW I was already in. Billy's have fully functional shoelaces, but you can leave them tied and just zip in and out of your shoes. This is also great if your foot is swollen, since you just put it straight in instead of trying to smush it through the ankle opening. They are also by far the widest shoes I've ever been in - I was able to go down a shoe size because they were finally wide enough. The extra wide women's shoes are a bit boring, but the XW kids go up to I think an 8 or 9 equivalent in women's. (And the kids shoes are half the price.) Their customer service is really good too, and you can order two different sizes (or single shoes) if you need to. If you couldn't tell, I'm very excited to find shoes that actually fit my weird little block feet! :)
