Dear Aaron, please is there a plug? In case some water will go inside you can drain it by opening the plug? Or it has some other purpose? Thank you

Hi Aaron I have built a Gary Dierking T2 proa and have fitted an off-the-shelf plastic hatch in the cockpit floor. It's not very waterproof and out of keeping with the boat so would be interested to know more about your design and how watertight it is.

Do you have a video of you paddling the Wombat?
@TheFlyboySouth4 ай бұрын
I currently have an inflatable SUP but I’m still new to the hobby. Trying to decide if the Cutwater is stable enough for me or if I need the Wombat.
@Aaron.deRuiter4 ай бұрын
Planning on getting some drone footage on the Wombat late next week on a surf trip. I'll definitely put it up on KZbin 👍👍
@Aaron.deRuiter4 ай бұрын
What sort of paddling will you be doing? Mostly flat water or in the ocean? The Cutwater is great for lakes & rivers, while the Wombat is an all rounder and good for catching waves up 2-3ft.
@TheFlyboySouth4 ай бұрын
Mostly lakes and bayous as I live in Louisiana. I’ll have a dog with me most days, so I want something stable that tracks well.

Gday I just discovered your channel. Skimmer 👍 I'm also an X pusser. I was an ex skimmer sailer on Fremantle class patrol boats and big ships. Ironically I have an International 10sqm sailing canoe that I'm fixing up , they're a very narrow boat and hence have a tendency to flip over so Ive been thinking of naming it Guzunder boat...😂. Looking forward to watching the rest of your Janus / Skimmer build videos and your thoughts on the Janus design during thecbuild and once you're out sailing. Cheers
@Aaron.deRuiter4 ай бұрын
Nice mate, you 100% have to call it Guzunder, you'll get plenty of questions about the name! I've switched designs to something smaller and more trailerable. I still have the janus plans so I may continue the build at some point but for now I want a boat I can put on a trailer and sail different areas. Thanks for watching!

I am building the same boat and I like the white paint you have used very much. Could you give me some information? What kind of paint/primer did you use? Is it matt? Thank you very much.
@Aaron.deRuiter4 ай бұрын
Nice one, how's your building coming along? It's a fun little boat. I used a single pack marine gloss from Norglass, not sure if it's available outside of Australia. I also used their primer.

Can you out pool noodles inside they will keep it afloat if it breaches😊
@Aaron.deRuiter4 ай бұрын
You could do, but pool noodles are open cell foam which means they would hold any water that got inside. So far no cracks or breaches! 😁👍

Hi what ply do you usually use for your boards ?
@Aaron.deRuiter6 ай бұрын
I use cheap 3mm plywood from the hardware store for my prototypes and high quality 3mm marine ply for my final design boards. The cheap 3mm ply is slightly heavier but holds up just as well as the more expensive stuff.
