Is it normal to see oil in intake box after installing a UNI? I had oil level up towards top of sight glass. Went for a ride and quite a bit of oil spilled out of intake box onto clutch cover. Just finished installing rear braces on our 22’ KRX. 2 door. I have big mits and it was still pretty easy. I see others questioned length of shock mount bolts after braces are installed. Stock Kawi bolt is 55 mm long and stays recessed in nut probably 3/32 after brace install. I bought some 60 mm long 10.9 12mm and they stick out about 1 full thread past nut. If i could have found them i would feel little happier with 65 mm. Just a suggestion. But Full Access could have included longer bolts just like they do with the front A-arm brace kit. Good tips, Noticed the "hard" steering and looked down at the EPS lit up on the dash. No temp issues (192) and voltage normal (14.1). Turned off the key and restarted it. Light was off and ran just fine with fully functional power steering. Happened again about 6 more times through the afternoon, both descending hills and climbing hill. Some on fast, rough ground and also at just 5mph through parking lot. Each time, just turning the key off and restart or turn key off and back on without engine stop would seem to reset it. I read older post that disconnect the battery for a few minutes fixed it, so I might try that tonight. If there's a problem I'd rather get it fixed than just clear it out with disconnect battery. One person says they have never cleaned CVT in 6-7k mi. yet our OEM belt started slipping at 1100 mi. with cleanings. Use low gear more than most we talk to, maybe it's a lemon CVT ? Going JBS now, after RCOR weights only lasted 700 mi. before grooving. (after full primary rebuild) some are claiming secondary. But why aren't the Can-Am X3 guys having this problem? However, now that I've thought about this more I really just don't understand how adding another piece of metal to both sides of the factory bracket does anything. There is NO WAY that this is reinforcing the factory bracket unless you weld this new bracket to the factory one. The only thing that actually provides reinforcement/strength are the 2 little bolts that secure the front plate to the frame. On the back side that bracket is nothing more than an additional washer that sits on top of those thick washers provided. If I'm wrong here please educate me on how I'm wrong?

That fuel sender issue is ridiculous! Every time we would fill up and head out, we would be down to 2 bars of fuel in no time at all. Then we would go fill up and would only get in about 4 gallons. Today I removed the assy and took down measurements of the fuel bar readings at each interval (6 bars in all). The overall travel of that sender bulb is 4.375 inches. If you can believe, you hit one bar at 2.5 inches from the bottom of its travel! That is only like an inch and 7/8 worth of travel from a full tank and you are reading empty?? I lowered mine by one inch doing what you did there and will see how it turns out in the weeks ahead. Some people in other videos were skeptical of this mod, but the thing is, once you hit that last bar and its blinking, you really have no idea how much fuel you really have left, even IF you don't want to do the mod, and the range without it REALLY sucks, especially in the sand.

Been riding off-road for 50+ years and use both paper & foam filters, and do similar prep for them as you say you do. However, on either type I also use medium viscosity grease on each filter mating surface and also spray filter oil onto the surfaces of the intake tract and filter housing interior. High grade HEPA type composite material filters do a good job also, but are expensive. Good review of proper filter maintenance. I will be ordering a Uni-filter today for my KRX.
@bretstephensen88215 ай бұрын
Jake, I have been using the Bel Ray Foam Air Filter Oil on the UNI filter that you sent me with great results. I found because of the design of the filter one must work the air filter oil into the element all the way through the outer element to the inner yellow as so that the inner yellow element turns blue all over the entire surface. If one does not make sure that the elements are treated with the oil, then indeed dust can pass right through the filter into the intake tract. As you well know the Bel Ray oil is dyed blue so as one can see the coverage over the elements so one can tell really easily see where more oil needs to be applied. Yes, indeed the Bel Ray is thick, but it does not migrate as easily as the thinner's oils do. I rotate my filter after every ride 180 degrees to ensure that there is as much possible filter oil retained on the elements. My car is Supercharged, and I run a Donaldson filter minder restriction gauge to monitor the air filter cleanliness. Even with the UNI filter freshly oiled at wide open throttle bouncing off the rev limiter now and then the restriction gauge will show zero inches on restriction in the intake tract with the foam filter treated with the thick Bel Ray Air Filter Oil. I have had no dust go pass my filter and like yourself I spend most of my time driving in dusty desert terrain. I just don't see how one can tell how well the element is treated with oil using a non-dyed air filter oil. The filter must be treated all the way through both elements and fully treated with oil in order for the filter to do its job. Been using Bel Ray Foam Air Filter Oil for years desert racing and play riding with zero problems related the oil not doing what it is supposed to do.
@fullaccessutv5 ай бұрын
@@bretstephensen8821 agree and I wish uni oil was colored. That’s why I would like to try a rolling container to put oil into. Then you know! I will also say I think the bell Ray oil is probably better at catching dirt, and definitely better at staying in the filters but that’s not something my average customer would spend the time to do correctly. I guess I got another video coming, lol
@bretstephensen88215 ай бұрын
@@fullaccessutv When I treat my filter with Bel Ray, I have a paint roller tray that is dedicated to applying the filter oil and it makes the application a lot easier. The oil must go through both elements completely and cover all of the surfaces in order to make sure no dust travels through into the intake tract. I roll the filter in the paint tray which has the air filter oil contained in it and using rubber gloves I roll the filter back and forth in the tray while I apply downwards pressure therefore pushing the oil into the inner yellow element then I squeeze out the excess oil back int the paint roller tray as needed. The paint roller tray that I use has a plastic cover that I leave covering the tray when not in use. One can also drain off the excess oil back into the bottle for future treatments. This has worked for me exceptionally well and is pretty easy to do. The Tupperware container would be a better choice than the paint roller tray as you have shown in your video.

I ordered an uni filter from you guys like a year and a half ago. Thought it was an oily mess when I opened it but I installed it. After a year of riding on dusty arizona trails and a few trips to glamis I opened the air box to check it. It no longer looked red, like muddy brown. I got worried but when I pulled it out the intake track was spotless. My only complaints is that the inside of the airbox is a sticky mess from the oil spreading around and the dirt sticks to it and the excess oil drips out the little drain tube on the clutch cover. But Im definitely going to keep running it.
