Thank you for taking us along with you. Love your outfits and I too love thrifting. My husband and I visited York a couple of years ago. In fact we were having dinner when the waitress told us the Queen had died. So sad. We splurged and were staying at The Grand Hotel, so lovely and right by the train station which we took to go to London. We only had 3 days in York, wish we had more. We loved the Pub called The Fat Badger. Thanks again

What a great day. I've promised myself a day in York this year. Haven't been for 34 years. I recently upcycled a thrifted linen mens shirt I bought for £3.80. I made it into a Kate Top by Tessuti fabrics. Such a nice pattern .I kept the button packet down the front but stitched it together.

Rachel your outfit is adorable and the shirt color suits you well. I can see your upcycle as a purse to go with your outfit. Ruan and Tamlyn you both look stunning and I can see Tamlyn upcycle as a long or short skirt and Ruan yours as a cute top. Love watching you three.

You know with the red dress I think a co-ord set top and shorts maybe, the scarf a halterneck scarf print top or a vest ir cami style top and the shirt add darts to shape in at the waist and pull off cuffs and elasticize the sleeve cuffs maybe?

I absolutely loved this video. Sharing in your happiness, friendship and shenanigans (☺😆) was a great way to spend my Saturday morning (I'm in the US). Your giggle fest after a "drink" made me laugh. 🍹🍾🥂. How lucky you are to have trains that bring you all together for a splendid day. Rachel, I'd make a little top out of the scarf. Spaghetti straps, slight cowl neck, triangle shape, with point coming to the top of your pants/shorts/skirt. If there's not enough fabric for the back, you can rouch (not sure how to spell that) a coordinating color for the back. The only thing I've ever used an old men's shirt for is bag lining, lol. Ruan, I would size yours down and maybe get rid of the collar, but keep the stand. Otherwise, I think it would drown you in it. Or make an apron, pillow cover/s. Have fun!

A day out with friends is the best. I love checking out anything sewing related in thrift stores, and i have found some amazing things. Upcycling is fun. I'm not sure what I would do with the orange dress, but the fabric is so pretty, maybe cut it off for a cute summery top. The beautiful scarf could be incorporated into a top or dress, i see the back of a top with most of the scarf. For the pink shirt, either just altered to fit, or combined with one or two other fabrics for a funky top. I love finding men's shirts, the quality of the fabric is usually excellent. When i was a teenager in the 70's i would fold scarves into halter tops. One of my favourite things to look for in a thrift store are sewing patterns I used to make my clothes. My plan is to make some kind of collage for my sewing room, (keeping both envelopes and patterns intact). I love these vlogs of day out with the NSS.

Have any or all of you tried the top down center out method of trouser fitting? I see that mentioned in a couple of the facebook groups I'm in, and it certainly sounds interesting. At least to someone who's never fitted a trouser in any way at all. I feel like that could make for an interesting group collab and video.

I guess the sleeves are raglan so it is harder to make it off shoulder perhaps? Also because the pattern was originally for a stretcher fabric the elastic is lost in translation. Maybe the elastic can be anchored at points like mid front neckline and mid back with say a stitch to prevent the elastic turning. As sometimes you do not need maximum stretch at every point perhaps? They all look great though.
