Appreciate that friend, I always let everything render out before export, change render cache to smart, I’ll edit in a 1080p timeline, then once everything is finalized I’ll duplicate it and change to a 4k timeline, render, run errands and then export. Under output & quality > normal - fast works perfectly fine. Also it helps to have your “working folders” > cache location on your fastest drive either internally or on a fast SSD. Hope that helps!

Appreciate the kind words Ed 🙏 If I already had the R5 ii I’d go with the R6 ii. Main reason being the original R5 still has the 29min record limit while the R6 ii does not. R5 is a great camera but you’ve got that covered with the V2! Hope that helps! I’ve used it as a b cam to both the R5C & C70 and the footage cuts almost perfectly.

@@arthuro1140 your English is better than most native speakers friend! EF lenses work FANTASTICALLY with the canon brand adapter. I’ve not tested others. Autofocus has always been very accurate in both photo and video. Plus I love the look that older EF glass gives va the newer glass. Newer glass is almost too sharp/contrasty for me for video at least.

@@arthuro1140I know everyone says this here on KZbin but it’s because it’s true. The colors still differ. I favor Canon which is why I went that route. You can edit them to be similar but I find Canon to take less time to get to where I want it. AF they are both equally reliable. The Sony has the dual base iso at 12800 which is very useful I find. Slog3 is very malleable when editing. Objectively I’d give an edge to the FX3 simply because it has dual XLR inputs. Subjectively the Canon’s I think are better hybrid cameras. In truth you really can’t go wrong with either!

Haha I think for most the R6 ii is a great tool. For content creators it’s perfect. The main improvements are Clog2 and RAW video along with 2k240 & 4k120. The wobble is better comparing the two in the R5ii but not completely gone. R6ii is still a beast of a camera for sure!

@@davidjorozco for sure, i was waiting for more shadow recovery in clog 2 to underexpose and gain more rich skies but in thend looks pretty similar to my r6 as far i can see.... bur for photography is other business

@@MODESTYXO205 the FX3 / A7siii is a primary video mirrorless camera that can also shoot great stills. It’s incredibly popular because it’s very good at what it does. The R5ii is a 50/50 photo & video camera. I’ve bounced back and forth for years but ultimately the Canon makes me want to use it more whereas the Sony feels like a tool that I only want to use for “work”. I’d pick the R5 ii personally. But either choice is a fantastic one. Go pick them up if possible and see which one you are drawn to. Best of luck!!

In both raw formats the autofocus works exactly as it does in normal codecs (really good). You cannot use digital IS in either 8k RAW nor 4k s raw. I want to say you cannot use IBIS either but let me double check and report back.

I typically don’t record continuously in 4k60. At most a few minutes, never full interviews, in my opinion it’s not meant for that but everyone has their use cases. I’ve never had it overheat. Ever.

@@Ed_Scott my honest honest answer is between the two, I’d upgrade. There are faint rumblings about the R6 III coming out later this year and I like the idea of a C70 or C400 + R6 III if it makes sense. That’s a whole other topic but to keep it short, the R5 ii is GOOD, and I’ll show and talk about why in the video soon!

I’d say the dynamic range is on par with the C70. I know there is a lot of talk about it being less than but just visually they feel similar. I loved the image out of camera. The R5 Mark ii still feels very digital even with clog2 and this does not feel that way at all. Compared to the look of the fx6 I’d say those two are closer but I still prefer the image of the c400. Is it an Alexa as far as image? No. But there are plenty of documentary films these days filmed with the FX6 & FX3. This is at least as good as those if not better. I personally think it’s good enough in the right hands.

I was editing C70 footage from an interview today and just admiring the “look” it was giving. Who knows maybe we’ll get that in the C70 Mark II 🤷‍♂️. That would be something. C400 & R1 is a tall task my friend haha probably need a lot more subs to make that happen lol

@@davidjorozco hehe yeah I know 🫣😅 I just need to know if I at some point can “Down size” Today i have two C70 for interviews (it saves so much time when the image is almost the same from start.. then I Got the R5c because i was sure that Canon c70 and the ar5C would match… they didnt.. the sharpness is to different and the C-log 3 is a step back i feel. Then I Got the R3 for sports and was like.. maybe i could do with the R3 for photo and as a B cam for video together with the C70… But in the end i log around two C70 for the interviews and a R5C for produkt and portrait photos.. and the R3 when im shooting sports jobs.. its a hazzle and a shitload of lenses in the bag 😂😅 If the R1 and C400 + RF 24-105 F2.8 and RF 15-35 F2.8 would do everything and match in sharpness and colors (C-log 2) Then it would be magical 🤩

I think we all discovered that at the same time. I haven’t confirmed that for sure but based on that clip it looks like it.

@@thebigdshow maybe. Here’s the thing, I shot this VERY run and gun. I noticed it in edit and thought it interesting and decided to include it. This was the only clip out of all of them to exhibit moire. I think with a little more care you could avoid this by changing qualities or angles in shots. It definitely exists however people find moire in the fx6 and other bodies just as well so it isn’t the end of the world I think, just takes a little more intentionality.

@@davidjorozco I agree definitely can be avoided but I’ve come across it too much and that’s why I’ve had a couple of my cameras outfitted with an OLPF just in case I don’t see it in monitor with building, window screens, and certain types of clothing.

Yep, 24mm and wider. Unfortunately the R5 II wobbles still as well albeit it seems like they have been able to control it via software a little bit more but still there. I’m with you I wish they would do SOMETHING.

@@davidjorozco This camera is probably the most attention grabbing camera Canon have released since the 5Dmk2 and everyone who has heard of it, knows it. This video title comes off as contrived in how is trying to force the idea that somehow it is underwhelming in its specs and release... I do feel sorry for youtubers having to stretch so much in their slavery to the algorithm.

You can! With Ef lenses that have IS you can control the lens independently from the body. With RF lenses the IS switch on the lens controls both. Hope that helps!
