I still get chills hearing this, sung by the one and only Judy. What a voice and what a powerful performance. Whew.

The fact that they did not give her an Oscar proves that the award is meaningless

THIS is how one doesn't only sing or performs a song but INHABITS a song so that the song and the singer are fused so tightly together that the audience can't separate one from the other.

“When Judy sang to playback, you could never hear anything...She wanted me to start off at a full blast and then she topped that...her huge voice carrying out over the rafters. You could hear Judy clear as a bell, and she sang right with it..." -Earl Bellamy, the sound man

Such a beautiful performance. I don't know how you can watch the without shedding a few tears. Judy Garland was stage & screen royalty. And, there will never be one who can ever compare. How many stars do you know who made 8 box office hit movies in 1 year? No other but Judy Garland!

From back in the days when you actually needed vocal talent to be star. No auto-tune, no backing tracks, no digital fakery to make a voice sound better, the way so many current pop stars do. An incredible voice, meshed with sensitivity and interpretive skills to know how to act a song and build it from quiet and introspection to powerful emotion. Singing isn't just about showing off your voice and wailing up and down scales and showing how long you can hold a high note, despite what those judges on American Idol and other shows keep encouraging. The contestants there always seem like they're trying to burst a blood vessel when they sing. It isn't pleasant.

That's true, but it also shows you how these awards don't really mean anything in the long run. It's the performance or the movie that people remember and stays in people's heads. Garland didn't win the award for this, but so many movie fans are still enjoying her remarkable performance so many decades later, and her fans know it was her greatest screen performance, dramatically and musically.

What makes me sick is this woman continues to sings her mothers songs….. yet she wrote a horrible book about her mother basically abusing her and her brother…. And about Judy’s problems! She is not judy and never will be! She is a mediocre singer with no original talent who abused her mother I write in that horrible book and making that horrible movie, but she has no problem going on stage and sing and her mother songs and collecting the money which makes me super sick! it be OK if she used her voice and original songs but that is so pathetic to me let me go ahead and write a book about my mother and collect the money and then let me sing her songs and collect the money which she continues to do today, but never ever ever has she been original like Liza this is sick and Judy would not be happy about this and let’s get real. She asked Lorna to stay with her and Lorna said sorry gotta go and then she ( judy )was dead. A Couple months later I know that’s not a child’s fault, but if I was a child I certainly wouldn’t be trying to make money off my mothers, death bed. Lorna was a teenager. She had already been dealing with this, so we can’t just claim she was five years old. She was a teenager she left her mother dead!!! and now she still today making money off her mother’s dead back!!!
