Too funny, I just love the reaction on Judy's face when they do the first initial wack to the door, then comes the fire extinquisher blast in her ear, and she still continues singing while he carts her away.......lol....Judy was a true Icon.

Great version. Her facial expressions before she begins to sing are masterful and, I'm sure, much rehearsed before they appeared perfectly natural.
@terrygrant34675 жыл бұрын
She needed no rehearsal. That's just one of the things that makes her special. Check the big production number "ON THE ATCHISON, TOPEKA, AND THE SANTA FE, FROM THE MOVIE THE HARVEY GIRLS. SHE NEVER REHEARSED ONE SECOND OF THAT PRODUCTION NUMBER. SHE WATCHED HER STAND-IN DO IT, SHE SAID I GOT IT, THEN THEY SHOT IT. ONE TAKE, NO MISTAKES, IN THE CAN. SHE WILL FOREVER BE THE GREATEST. BAR NON.

This setting and performance are very MGM movie scene-ish! Beautiful. I wish Judy'd been together enough to have had one mmore classy, sophisticated, well-produced movie musical in the '60s to her credit.. I always thought she would've been GREAT in the movie Gypsy!

Garland has many critics and even her worst critics know that she will be forever the BEST singer God ever gave that talent to. She lived her songs. Sinatra said she had the worst breath control for a singer. She later seen him come into a restaurant she was eating at and asked the question, " I didn't know they let busboys in here" He apologized to her. Her Star was hotter than his ever was. She is an icon to many and not just to Gay men but to all who love a great performer.

what you are describing is the tabloid Judy Garland, not the Garland that her close friends and family knew. There are lots of people out there that "knew" Garland, but really didnt. She had tragedy in her life, some real "low" lows. But she herself would make fun of the tragic persona that some tried to attach to her. She had great friends, a great career doing what she loved to do (sing) loved to laugh, had a great sense of humor and had childrent who adored her and whom she adored.
