Loved this episode! I feel like there could be round 2 with beer ads from around the world. Australian beer ads had a moment in the 90s starting with The Big Ad from Carlton Draught.

Love this analysis. But even funnier is the fact that Jon and Mark relate the story about Brew dog twice in the video without either if them really recalling its the same story 14:17 and 34:19. Authentic pub mates ;-)

According to Harvard Business Review, "Eighty percent of CEOs say they don’t trust or are unimpressed by their CMOs." If I were CEO, I'd fire the CMO.

All valve is perceived valve. Tesla is an okay product that lack competition. Honestly, model 3 is an electric Corolla. Tesla doesn’t advertise. But they actually do. In the person of Elon Musk.

hey Jon, just wanted to let you know, the quality of your speakers, the consistency and frequency in which you are able to get such great names, the fact that you are giving all this knowledge and deep dives for free .. that is unbelievable. I dont know of any other marketing podcast out there that is at this level. I really hope that it pays off greatly to you, because you deserve it so much!

My brief takeaway: Advertising should be a business of “advertainment” for people/audiences not consumers.

Brilliant podcast - many thanks Jon, Orlando, & Sir John :-) Loved your call to advertisers to realise they're in the entertainment business and should drop thinking of people as consumers and start thinking of people as their audience. 'Entertain for Profit Gain'!

Great listen! We are certainly in a state of flux, big emotional advertising is still a big factor to success on certain channels, but when we help brands to connect on social with audiences in an authentic way - it often defaults to them wanting us agencies to adapt the big emotional ads. This doesnt really work anymore (unless it involves big social personalities / hype products). Im interested in the comment relating to the living as a focus works best , in social terms we've seen this as uncrafted creative ;-)

Great video! Another possible reason why the bigger companies make duller advertising is because commercial skills tend to be valued more than creative skills, thus creating teams of less creative marketing people.
