I’m so glad you said that about the statistical side of six sigma. I spent a lot of time studying them to get certified for my gb just to almost never use them outside of curiosity and amusement. Going for an interview soon to move into a dedicated continuous improvement lead role, and I was kind of worried that I was the only one that felt that way!

Just watched your video and I can't agree more with what you said. I received my LSS BB certification through the University of Michigan. It was 100% focused on Six Sigma. I work in a service organization where lean is a more powerful tool than 6S. If people focused on problem solving and used DMAIC methodology toward that problem solving. Their organizations would be in a better position to succeed. The biggest issue I run into with my organization is getting them to follow up and actually complete all the action items that come out of a Kaizen. Great answer to your viewers question, thanks.

Appreciate your comment (and support on my channel 🙏). I hear ya on the Kaizen action items. Speaking strictly TEXT BOOK, we shouldn't leave the Kaizen with any actions....the goal of the Kaizen is to focus on a specific issue, resolve that issue, celebrate and move on with life. Speaking REAL WORLD, we always seem to leave the Kaizen Event with action items. I'm continually getting better at keeping these actions to just a few (if any)....and sometimes we leave the Kaizen event following the TEXT BOOK guidelines with ZERO actions (YAYYYY 😂🤣😂). I'm not 100% successful at achieving this goal though - so my next goal is to keep the actions to just a few so I don't overload an already stretched workforce. I created an action plan for a event video (the Video where I solved a complex problem using the fishbone in a unique way)...I've included that action plan as a download in the: FREE Business Improvement Mastermind Membership. Link here: www.learnkaizen.com if you're interested in grabbing that. It might help with ensuring your organization completes all the actions....just trying to help. Thanks again for all your support! 🙏 I sincerely appreciate it!

I'm in alignment as well that problem-solving, kaizens, and VSM/process maps are the way to set yourself apart. But the job postings don't reflect that, often requesting a SSBB.

I have a Six Sigma Green Belt certification from college in 2015, and in the fall of 2016 I was on a team within a financial institution on a contract basis, but I was advised that I really needed "practical experience." How can one achieve that if no one will hire you on an entry level? Where can I begin in the Raleigh/Durham, NC area? Thank you in advance for your help. CB
@learnkaizen
@learnkaizen 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Cheryl. Thank you for the question. I know it can be a struggle when just starting out. I always advise folks to do a quick job search to see what companies are looking for...I did one to answer your question and found about 10 respectable roles (salary between 60-90K) that indicate they want people who know how to use the skills but don't require a cert...now you have a cert so you should be golden. The problem I see most of the time is that people simply don't articulate their value well on their resumes. I have a course that specifically covers articulating resumes/CVs for Lean and Six Sigma roles. I have since moved the course as a bonus inside the Kaizen Expert Masterclass. I'll put the link below (no pressure). If I were you, I'd get hyper-specific on the value you bring. Use metrics to show this value and tie those metrics back to Quality, Cost, Delivery. Use the experience that you have from the financial institution. I use to coach people on how to do this and I can tell you that - even with very little experience, you can pull value from what you have done. You just need to demonstrate that value and speak the language of hiring managers. if you follow these tips, you should start getting more interviews. Here's that link I promised: www.learnkaizen.com

Great video, Chad. Very informative. I started my CI career in the semiconductor manufacturing industry and currently in transition to an opportunity in aerospace, specifically engine MROs. Do you have any advice for someone who's fairly new in CI and transitioning to a completely different industry? Thanks

Yes. I’ve done it several times. From assembly manufacturing to automotive (electronics), aerospace and Biotech….I always kept the focus on the value through the lean tools. If it’s a leadership role, figure out what keeps the plant manager up at night and use the lean tools to remedy those issues. Implement lean systems that align all areas of the business…think hoshin kanri , action plans that support the hoshin , bowler with the KPIs, daily management with metrics aligned to bowler and a solid problem solving methodology- like 8D, 5P, DMAIC…

@@learnkaizen "Keep the focus on the value through the lean tools." This is great advice. I think you're right. The process flows and terminology may be different, but the focus is the same: elimination of muda and delivering value to the customers.

thank your for the information shared. My question is , Now days Do you still recommend get certified in Lean Sig Sixma for entry level enginners? I Started to watch your videos a week ago because i heard about Sig sixma. I am seeking to continuing my carrer path as a chemical engineer. I am living in USA but my degree is from another country. I just have one year of experience working in my country. Some of my colleagues that are working in USA recommend me to get six sigma certified , as well i saw a lot of jof offer related to my field require have this certification.
@learnkaizen
@learnkaizen 2 жыл бұрын
If you're seeking jobs that require this certification, then perhaps it's the right path. Just understand that getting this certification is the very beginning of the journey. Companies ask for the certification, but they really want the potential/perceived value that comes with someone who has the cert. I put together a course for folks that want to pass the ASQ Six Sigma Green Belt Exam... No pressure - Just putting it out there 😊. www.learnkaizen.com/lss-study-system

Good Afternoon, I have a question. I am a Pharm Tech. Someone that I knew informed me about Six Sigma. Would someone like this apply to me for someone who doesn’t have a degree and has never held a supervisor role? I feel is that my job doesn’t provide opportunities but I feel with this. This can excel me and I could bank on myself to achieve. Any thought?
@learnkaizen
@learnkaizen 2 жыл бұрын
Her Jeremiah. Absolutely! Lean would be extremely valuable. Are you planning to stay in the Pharm Tech field or transition out? As for never having a supervisor role, there are two career paths you can take here…one is general management where being a supervisor would definitely help…the other path is a subject matter expert. I’ve held supervisor/management roles but prefer being an individual contributor…it’s more like teaching, consulting, and implementation through influence. Hope this helps!

When you refence to a Improvement Processes driven resume class, will this video or series of videos be also on the Kaizen Mater Class site as a part of the either yearly or lifetime access?

The schedule in the Mastermind Membership should have one month where I go over the Resume/CV…however I am planning to put together a course specifically for Improvement professionals…I’ve been helping people over the last 3-4 years tailor their resumes but the one to one is costly…so the course will teach the same methods but for a much lower cost. I plan to have it launched by the end of February.

@@learnkaizen Great! I have a little over 10 years of manufacturing experience. And I have 15 years of retail management. Looking to get back into manufacturing possibly as a supervisor (may start as a machinist as before). Completing my OSHA 30 30 and with this kaizan training and some sigma 6 lean training, maybe this will help in a few months. I don't have any college, but I think companies will still take all that into consideration.
