Please do some more videos of this lens. I just bought mine, but the weather is so grey in Denmark. So I havent tested it yet :/ Show me how good it can be ❤

Well, neither one of those two lenses is really good for a6000... The kit lens has OSS but is sharp just in center. Taking shots at f3.5 sides and corners are absolutelly poor quality, at f5.6 is getting a bit better... Sigma is much sharper and brighter (f2.8) but lacks OSS so not the best lens to shoot under conditions other than sunny day outside... Maybe if someone takes photos with tripod only... Kind regards!

Worth a mention that there is two unfortunate limitations with this (and other non-Sony) lens on Sony cameras: first, you cannot use it with teleconverters and the maximum framerate is limited to 15 fps, although obviously this restriction only affects when using A9 and A1 series' cameras that can shoot even faster.

Yea I wish the IP wasn't limited to Sony for TCs , hoping there is a future for aftermarket TCs tho

Just took a cpl of shots with it today. Its still too dark outside when I come home from work. So I tried it indoors in bad lighting. But even then its so much better than the 200-600 :O It handles iso noise much better imo. Cant wait till the weekend when the sun is coming here in Denmark. AND ITS SO FREAKING LIGHT !!!!!! :D

I had the Sony 200-600mm 5.6-6.3 G Lens, but it is too big and too heavy for long hikes and it is not easy to use, so I sold it in 2023, also there are problems with the stabilizer system, in March 2024 I bought the excellent Sigma 500mm 5.6 DG DN Sports Lens, it is very compact and light weight, easy to use and operate, I can hike in the nature for hours, carrying the Lens in my hands without problems, the image quality of the Sigma 500mm 5.6 DG DN Sports are better than the Sony 200-600mm, so I can highly recommend the Sigma 500mm DG DN Sports Lens !

It's too small, dawg. And looks like one of these fifth party adaptall lenses from the 80s. Nice review though. How's the AF-C on subjects moving quickly towards you? Quack.

I’ve never dropped my camera until I bought this. Of that base plate is not tight it will come off. Also it doesn’t stay standing straight when legs are extended.

I think I know what you mean, it can be annoying to readjust it sometimes.

Great video, quick and simple. Tip: Most people who would benefit from this video don’t have an aperture dial on their lenses.
@JosephValenti9 күн бұрын
Thanks for your feedback! You're absolutely right-many beginners might not have that dial, but the basics still apply regardless of the gear.

Just put up my 2 ½ year old 200-600 lens for sale, and ordered this Sigma 500. Im picking up the Sigma tomorrow and Im super excited ! I havent heard anything negative about it. My concern might be that I will miss the zoom... but then again, I usualy shoot at 500-600 anyways. I dont know how much difference f/5.6 is to f/6.3 but I expect the quality to be better. Also, Im using the Sony a7RV, so I guess I can easily crop the last 100mm, if needed. Thanks for the video 💪
@JosephValenti12 күн бұрын
Haha, please don't sell your kid for this lens! Honestly that was kinda my concern at first as well, but I didn't feel like I missed it at all in actual use - so it might really be in our heads more than anything. Thanks for watching !

I've been looking at all the new 500mm f5.6 version lenses. I just got the new Fujifilm GFX 500mm 5.6 GF. Talk about cropping power! Sharp it will cut ya. The only negative is that the foot isn't long enough to balance with a GFX100 on a gimbal .. You have to add a 7" arcaswiss adapter
@JosephValenti12 күн бұрын
I kinda really wish I had a secondary camera as Fujifilm, kinda jealous. While I love the a7iv overall, that picture profile on Fuji just seems like something I'd really want for my travel photography

Beautiful photos! I really enjoyed watching the series of them. Also it’s cool that you pointed out that shooting out of your window provided minimal disturbance to the wildlife.

have you tried it with low light situations? I'm thinking of this one or the Nikon 200-500 f/5.6e.
@JosephValenti9 күн бұрын
I haven't tested it in low light yet, but it's definitely something I plan to try soon! The Sigma 150-600mm is versatile, so I'm curious to see how it performs in those conditions.

How do you get your shots so good-looking? I have the 150-600, and I only have 2 photos that look like that. The rest are blurry (I have a tripod)
@JosephValenti23 күн бұрын
May seem counterintuitive but, higher iso (like max 2000 though) and faster shutter speed. I find higher iso in order to get a faster shutter speed works well for wildlife
@smooth11101224 күн бұрын
Presumably you can control light by either going to a higher shutter speed or different f number

Title should’ve been: 'Is the Sigma 35mm f/1.2 for videographers who like bokeh blobs?' For a lens that screams low-light photography, you barely touched on its ability to transform dimly lit scenes into cinematic gold. Instead, we got a half-hearted nod to low light and then an endless ramble with boríng daylight shots. Next time, maybe cater to the people who actually shoot with their cameras after sunset. You know, the ones the f/1.2 aperture is ACTUALLY made for?
@JosephValentiАй бұрын
Thanks man I think you're right, in retrospect the main talking points of this video did miss the mark for what I really needed to investigate for this lens.
