my back hurts looking at that already! guess theyll be some patented nsj guitars carves to skinny it up!

I theenk… I’d buy in a 5 string nut from Graphtec that has the guide string slots already partially cut (or moulded, whatever they do), and the bridge. From those, you’ll have a pretty accurate idea of your neck/board outline. Still cheaper than templates, and you’ll at least use the bridge if not the nut as well…

Wow that was an eye catching thumbnail. Saw it at the end of other videos didnt even realize it was you. That looks to be one heavy beastie with that chonky thick body and what looks like a neck that will go on forever (I know it will be cut way back) What % of weight do you think will disappear with control cavities and pick up cavities and carves? MAYBE 20%-25%? Oh and I made a straight board and sealed it a bunch of times and have begun the flattening process on that plane per your advice. I only have 320 grit roll paper so it may take a bit more effort. I got almost an hour on it already and seeing results. That tail though is where its wayy out of line with the rest. I may take a file to that a bit to save time.

Beautiful guitar Neil. Great playing as well. The 50's wiring lets you control the volumes without them going all the way off. I've never liked the "newer" set up. The series/ parallel is the better way to "coil plot" IMHO. Not only does it sound better it retains the hum canceling of the pickups.

Hi , it's looking great. i've stopped worrying about making mistakes in guitars i build.. if i drill the holes to big i just carve it out and put a bit of geometric inlay in them.. reminds me of an interview a stone carver was giving.. the interviewer said that's a lovely garden gnome you made. the stone carver said .. '' well , it started off as patio slab , but bit's kept breaking off.

I bought a gold top from Thomann last year. The finish on the back really made it come out orange, too. This video was your "bd luck" video, from the finish not eing what you wanted to those 11mm holes that decided to be larger. Way to shrug it off and go on.

Most every other cat I know understands when you do not want them a round so they will ALWAYS be right in the way of what you are doing. then when you want time with the buggers they will sit next to you until you reach down to them then they will step just out of reach and sit back down.

Acetone works well, I couldn't find any locally so I went with standard thinners used for cleaning spray guns and it worked a treat. I guess any solvent would work. 5 seconds with a heat gun will help you get around corners with no worries, even the lower horn ones.

Might I suggest a hair dryer for when you do binding. It warms the material enough but wont melt it unless you hold it in one place forever. It softens the binding and conforms it to curves better so the tape doesnt have to support so much resistance. It also makes tight curves like the horns MUCH easier and far less likely to snap. Awesome progress in one video though. This is coming along nicely.
