I worked for Pan Am from 1977-1991. This video brought back so many memories. You did a great job filming the training video.

This was great! If you put the CC on you can read what’s being said during the muffled parts Loved “another airline delivered a problem package” - can you imagine a mother putting her three young kids on a plane without the proper visas? And then spending the night with a stranger this day and age? However, F/ As have dealt with so many situations over the decades Thank you for posting!

Deregulation did that. Back then airlines competed for passengers because they all had the same fares. Now it's just about 💸 💰

Todays U.S. airlines have completely deviated from sound training standards such as this. Instead DEI is the norm with disastrous results. Indeed the United States has fallen.

Are we sure this is the Worldport? I was under the impression that the Worldport extension didn't open until 1973 and this film is dated 1970.

Very good point. It was dated 1970, but I think you’re right. I renamed it “circa 1973” -Tom Betti

This gives a wonderful glimpse into the daily operations inside the Worldport. Also striking is how the passengers boarding the 707 are carrying only a jacket or pocketbook!

Fascinating b/c this is from the early 70s. Really makes me wonder what was happening at PanAm that caused them to implement this. Was employee morale low? Did they have bad attitudes? Were they treating their customers badly? All this nostalgia we see about PanAm always paints them with rose colored glasses. But, it's videos like this that shine a light on the airline's reality that is fascinating.
@sanitman14882 күн бұрын
What was happening, competition was always at Pan American’s door step! This employee training tool was used to train new hires and veterans alike to keep morale high and focused on the customer. This was prior to the Middle East oil embargo which the airline wasn’t prepared for especially with the arrival of the 747s in the fleet!

With our present knowledge in the industry this video might seem funny and everything but informative, however giving it a second thought one can realise that these efforts led to the resourceful, CRM based entities we enjoy to work for nowadays. One more shoutout to PAN AM! 🫡

The -300 was not longer than the -100 or -200, the upper deck was, but the body was not. The only 747’s that were different lengths were the 747SP and the 747-8
