@@Belman5 thanks! Here I used a patch I made in my Kemper Player for a gig. It’s a capture from a Reddi and I added EQ and 2 compressors.

Luther! I love that tune. Marcus Millers tone was much more raw back then.Not quite the Signature Sound that he has now. Your bass definitely sounds right for that tune, even though a whole step up really changes the sound of the line. Is that a passive bass?

Seems like the J has more definition and it is also more punchy. People always talk about how P basses sit better in a mix... not here. Beautiful bass playing. Rogier, do you write? Is there a CD of your music available? If not, you should get busy. You are one of the baddest players on the planet!

I have both. I prefer the 70s, especially for slapping. The bass I get the most compliments for , on almost every gig I play is my Moon JB 5 with 60s spacing. I wish it wasn't so LOL. Lee Sklar said that sometimes a bass that sounds really good in a mix can sound kind of ugly by itself. Maybe he's right?

@@gimmeagig Lee Slar is right. My Sadowsky PJ doesn’t sound nice on its own. But in a mix it’s unbeatable. In Taiwan I had a Moon J5 rental. I was blown away. What a great bass. I offered to buy it but they wouldn’t sell.

I love the sound of the La Bella 760FLs on my Squier JV with Antiquity II, but want to try other brands. Want something warm and thumpy, but also as smooth and shiny to the touch as possible. Any opinions would be appreciated. :)

The 78 Jazz bass just has that sound - the Stenback is amazing tonally for fingering but the Jazz just has that sound for slap.

Very sorry to hear of your condition and I hope it is just temporary. I did not read the explanation before I watched and listened to the video. While I did notice the difference visually I could not hear the difference in your playing - you are just that talented. I’m not too sure many of your subscribers could make the switch to using their ring finger in so little time and have it sound so good. You are an amazing artist. Thank you for all your posts.
