It's simple. The USA a single, massive, English-speaking market with a largely uniform legal system. Try and launch a product in Europe and you have to navigate all the different languages, legal systems, regulators and even plug-types. Scaling a business is much easier in the USA. The EU believe it can "harmonize" Europe's even larger Single Market to make legal & regulatory systems more similar and this is definitely helping; but it has no answer for the diverse languages of Europe, which its people won't give up any time soon. Also the EU is pro-people whereas the USA is pro-business; this is another reason why scaling a business is easier in the USA. To that extent, the USA will continue to dominate tech.

I think at the time Asia has just got independence from Europe, and was struggling economically, politically, socially. But now that Asia has gotten its chance, it's the time they are advancing tremendously.

Is measuring the size of tech companies important, or is the amount of well paying tech jobs more important in Europe and examining where tax revenue is going from tech companies, cause a lot does not go to the USA. To be honest I think having lots of profitable smaller tech companies could be just as much of a bonus to Europe.

American tech companies are overpriced and their stock price is skyrocketing like the end of the world. That has some benefits(publicity, familiarity with the name, easy to invest in them, advertising, etc). Don't say the Europe tech companies are bad. The reality is that most money goes in the USA tech companies so even some europe tech companies will try to partnership with the american ones or move the headquarters in USA. Its a harsh reality but europe culture is a 1000 times more interesting the USA's😅

I'm in the UK. I'm trying to build a startup business. I can find funding for small innovative projects but there's no follow on. Consequently, we're hopping from one small project to another in a piecemeal fashion. I spent 8 years in France working on quantum cascade lasers. I won funding from the EU and have run numerous EU funded projects. It's a complete shit show. The bureaucracy absolutely stifling. We were ahead of the US at one point but it's all amounted to nothing after millions of euros funding.. I also started a business in France and got shot down in flames because of the bureaucracy and cultural limitations. I had a brief stint in Switzerland but did find it conducive to my business ambitions. I'm shocked at how risk adverse Europeans are. I prefer the Anglo Saxon flexibility and pragmatism but there are too many old farts running the system in the UK.

So why don’t you try in the US? Europe is too bogged down with bureaucracy and doesn’t have as a robust VC/startup ecosystem

Half the video is just immigration propaganda, silicon valley was created by billions in tax payer money for the initial defense industries there, the military bought most of the transistors and semiconductors being made until the 70s, that's a lot of "free" money there Europeans didn't have.

Good summarization. Less burocracy, less taxes, more funding. And global competition. I myself just leaving an EU tech company and plan to join a US tech company, and work remotely, since the salaries are incomparably different...

Actually Europe's problem can be summarized simply... Lack of investment in R&D. Germany is Europe's largest economy by far but only because it reinvests in refining technologies it has been good at, primarily ICE and related vehicles. No other country can make a diesel or gasoline ICE engine like the Germans but as the EV marketplace has grown globally, German products have become less valuable and Germans have stubbornly refused to expand into industries it doesn't already have a lead Other EU economies are generally handicapped by lack of funds and educational institutions that turn out graduates with entrepreneurial ambitions. European society is generally more into preserving wealth rather than creating. There are individuals who are exceptions but are too few to make a substantial difference

Lack of investment leads to low salaries which leads to employees not pursuing excellence and instead focusing on other things in their lives.

For EU and national governments European success must be prioritized over social justice, environment and consumer protection. Embrace capitalism. Foster the growth of huge companies. They would push Europe to the top again. Attract skilled workers and rich investors instead of refugees. Give more freedom to stock exchange and allow its centralization (like the merger of Frankfurt am Amsterdam stock exchange). Create European champions by merger. Think about Europe’s strategic power. The goal is to knock out competitors and move to the top. Everyone understands it except Europe.

Europe’s philosophy: Quality over quantity! Americans built and are still building technologies from European know-how. The US would be a large land of forest still, without European engineers, scientists and capital. Asian companies are copying and stealing everything, then improving it because they didn’t spent money and time to develop the base technology itself. Efficient? Yes! Could they do anything alone! No way! They have never heard the word: creativity!

Heres one of the issues: every country has different regulations. The eu attempts to unify that into a single set of laws and remove barriers. That receives alot of pushback from local governments for medling with their affairs and reducing sovereignity. Its a hopeless nimby-esque situation at the nation state level. A great example is all the different standards of railway networks.
