Video was a blessing for my 5 year old who loves Super Mario. Saved me money. Time wasn't bad. Bent the pins and cleaned everything with rubbing alcohol. The motherboard was dirty from the factory. Cleaned it all up and put back together. Works like a charm!

In fairness even when this does work you probably need a new battery anyway since it won't have nearly as good of life anymore compared to a fresh one

So I have one that the light goes off when plugged in. It will not come back on if I move the cable head around. However, if I plug and unplug the charger about 6-7 times the light will eventually stay on and charge. I do have a speaker that’s not as loud as others and from researching it seems like this may be a capacitor issue. Could this also affect the charging circuit? PS: I have installed a new battery and still have the issue. I have also cleaned the contacts within the charging port with ipa.
@FantasticQuack4 күн бұрын
This sounds like the connector (on either the system or charger side) is dirty or worn out. I'd start by cleaning both with alcohol and a tooth brush a few times and see if that makes a difference. After that if you're still having intermittency I'd try another charger before resorting to anything more involved.
@CBUCKN5 күн бұрын
So mine does this with a new battery installed wonder what the issue is. I also have a speaker that isn’t super loud. With this I know it could be a capacitor issue I wonder if this could also affect the charging circuit. Does anyone have thoughts on this?
@FantasticQuack4 күн бұрын
Would need more detail on the speaker issue. You might try bending the pins up and cleaning the pads for better contact.

It's becoming more common for these to fail. No surprise, the system is approaching 25 years old now. Having a schematic is greatly helpful but of course those are hard to find since they rarely get leaked.

What happens to a gamecube that boots into other games but fine but breaks on this game? It reads fine, it just won't boot. it seems to be the only game to be like that. is it the disc? It looked relatively unscratched.
@FantasticQuack4 күн бұрын
Hard to make confident suggestions without seeing all the discs you've tried but resurfacing the problem disc is the easiest option to test, followed by a laser pot adjustment.
@TheStickCollector4 күн бұрын
@@FantasticQuack well resurfacing worked for most of them but not colosseum. I tried it on multiple GameCubes but it gets past the Nintendo logo but then goes into the read error. I tried other games I resurfaced which worked on one of them (with a better laser?). Disc is probably either damaged in some way or needs like some multiple odd sessions.

Hi! I have an issue that i cant find any solution to, mainly because this isn't the most popular xbox now- my controller works during games and on the startup screen, however whenever i try to watch a movie it's unrespondive. Is there any way to fix this?
@FantasticQuack11 күн бұрын
That is very odd and not something I have experience with unfortunately. You could try to further isolate the issue by trying multiple controllers to see if the issue persists (i.e. determine if it's a controller vs console problem)--same thing with testing other movies--and research further from there.

Air Capsule seems like a handy tool instead of busting out my whole ass air compressor every time. I wonder if there is a similar tool that just plugs in instead of needing to charge.
@FantasticQuack11 күн бұрын
It is a great tool, it seems like most options are battery rather than corded. I personally prefer the portability and the battery lasts surprisingly well considering the power output. I would like if it had a little dock to charge on rather than a basic plug in but not a huge deal.

Ok using my multimeter. If i probe the brown and white - i get 24 VAC. If i probe white and black - i get 110 VAC. If i probe Brown and Brown - i get 0. Does this mean the Transformer is OK? Amazing video! A few months ago I found an old psone in my grandparents place and was delighted to see it still worked and ran games. The thing was dirty so I cleaned all the parts and reassembled and it stopped working. I gave up on it until I saw this video which inspired me to investigate further. I now see the problem, the button that you manually press at 0:57 isn’t there. I’m having trouble finding out what this piece is technically called so I can order it. Do you know where I might be able to find the name of it?
@FantasticQuack11 күн бұрын
Thanks! Unfortunately to replace that piece I think you'd either need to steal one from a donor PS1 or 3D print a new one. Alternatively you could tape the actual button down or short the connection with wire so that the console always thinks the lid is closed.
