This is awesome! I may do this soon for one of my PS5 controllers... Love your content and your voice is just pleasant to listen to. And... I love ducks too! Had 3 of them as pets for a good while! 😁👍🦆

i was going to buy a normal ps5 but add the spiderman 2 shells for the console, but since only the ps5 wouldn't be clean, i decided to do it for the controller but it looked hard, watching this video is going to help me. (Sorry for bad grammar im just lazy💀)

Extreme rate really do being real interesting gaming parts. Their mechanical shoulders for the switch pro is great. Not entirely related, but I'm been looking into longer term controller maintenance. Other than gulikit's hall sensor potentiometer, I looked into trying to recondition old Panasonic pots for GameCube, and found that deoxit makes a carbon track restorer, the fader, used by old amps for the carbon pot sliders. Haven't tried it out for myself despite having the deoxit, but I wonder if with both that and a lubricant for plastic for stick boxes (like molykote 44 light) if old gc stick boxes can be salvaged

This was cool but you know you could just order that same controller pre-made from hex gaming. Hex gaming is the sister company of extreme rates and they offer pre-built controllers with multiple designs or you can design your own so you don't have to risk damaging it building it yourself I ordered two and they're really good
@FantasticQuack2 жыл бұрын
I always encourage doing the work yourself for a more satisfying product at the end. But going pre-assembled is a fine option if the hands on stuff isn't something you enjoy
@natacham41712 жыл бұрын
Pre assembled is expensive as fook just ordered an Xbox controller for Xmas for my other half and it's Alot when you can get shells on ebay

If you're careful in how you remove it I believe the old glue can simply be re-used.

I have three controllers this seems like a fun thing to do, do i need a heat gun for the touch pad though i dont have one lol
@FantasticQuack10 ай бұрын
A basic hair dryer should be enough. It's just to loosen the adhesive, you don't need any heat technically but I'd highly recommend it.
@CarLucci24 Жыл бұрын
Seems like there's alot more to putting a faceplate on the 5 controllers than vs the 4. A heat gun? I have one but looks like a pain. Vinyl skin for me (=
@FantasticQuack Жыл бұрын
The black face plate is really easy to swap. I'm assuming you mean re-shelling, which yes has a number of steps but overall isn't that bad. I used the heat gun to make the touch plate board come off easier, you could also soften the adhesive with alcohol, or even just brute force it (but risk damaging the board). Even a basic hair dryer would work here.
@CarLucci24 Жыл бұрын
Yes I meant the shell. Surprised to see 4 harnesses now too. On the 4 controllers I just used a razor to pry the board off the back of the touch pad if I wanted to replace it lol. I do like how you put the new adhesive on the back of it. That was pretty cool. Hope one of my buddys old controllers break soon so I can open her up and play with it😅. The metal buttons never felt right to me. The chrome, black, and blue on the white does go look hard though. Looks clean 👌
@DarkSharkBark Жыл бұрын
What adhesive did you use? I orderd a custom diablo4 cover from someone on etsy and debating wether they need to or not paint the touchpad too. Been watching your vid to see disassembly and how to do the touchpad so wonderd what did you use to reattach
@FantasticQuack Жыл бұрын
I used a 3M pressure sensitive adhesive that I've had for years since it was a huge roll I picked up a while back. I can't find the equivalent easily accessible/affordable online but have an alternate option of basic 2-sided tape in the vid description that should work fine for this application.

have had my dualsense for 2 solid years and its already failing on me, its now replaced by a 20 year old gold ps2 controller for my pc gaming needs lol was looking around for videos on how to get the damned thing open at least so i could take a look, its so weird not seeing visible screw holes.
@FantasticQuack2 жыл бұрын
Weird indeed.. I think it's the first modern controller (at least to my knowledge) to hide all the screws like that--how modern! Other than the joystick problems I really like the design of the DS5, it's a fairly complex controller but can be disassembled quite easily.
@hehe42069-k2 жыл бұрын
@@FantasticQuack Its easily my favorite controller design ever, beating out the gamecube where it was a close 2nd/3rd for a while. its the perfect blend of DS4 and Xbox 360/One.

i broke the touchpad frame and I cant find it ANYWHERE online. if someone finds it please tell me.

Is it something you could repair with superglue? It's a pretty specific piece and so might be hard to find individually short of pulling one out of a scrap controller.
