Warhammer really came from D&D. GW started as a distributor. I’ve never heard anyone say WHFB came from WHFRPG. I don’t think it even existed when WHFB was created Also, I wonder if Stillman is still alive?

I like the spirit of Stillmania, but It isn’t for me. I absolutely love growing my armies. Playing with the same force constantly would be boring for me. Still, there’s a lot he says that is true. I’m building a second Bretonnia army already (a narrative slow grow force separate from my 30 year old WHFB army), and ordered almost 4000 points of Dwarfs as a winter project (my business runs from April 15th to October 15, I’m a fishing guide services business owner and do product testing and consulting for a few fishing companies). I can’t wait. Wake up every morning, write while I drink a pot of coffee, followed by building and painting an army I’ve wanted for over a decade now. When WHFB ended I was crushed that I hadn’t gotten to Dwarfs yet. Now not only am I getting Dwarfs, I’ve been blessed with a huge complement of classic metal dwarfs. If they put classic metal miners up for sale, I’m buying 40. I bought 20 Imperials and two command groups for them, slayers, slayer commands, all of the war machines, and about a dozen or so other kits. This is the first time I’ve spent this much on any army in decades. Also bought a 216 bottle set of Army Painters new Fanatic line, which I’ve tested and might be my new favourite line of paint. That’s shocking because I HATED their old paints.

Your army is incredible! I'm very proud to possess two of the warriors you included in your Nurgle-marked regiment - specifically the warrior with a scythe and the warrior with bone armour. I use them as my battle standard bearer (with a custom banner, of course) and a champion with the mark of slaanesh respectively, but seeing them in a regiment as regular warriors is very impressive.

Looking forward to seeing Farage completely tank as an MP. He might have made a career as a media mouthpiece and exploiting populist sentiments for his own personal gain, but experience from when he was an MEP shows he’s an incompetent, disorganised, grifter who’s not used to having to toe the line and do some actual work. I can only hope after all these attempts, he’s finally got the job and it’ll be the ruin of him. That’s perhaps too optimistic when it comes to this proverbial bad penny though. 😡

@@DrBlaxill We had an eclectic mix of miniatures that would arrive randomly and in various quantities through stores. Being way down South it was pretty much what you could get - when and where and who could get it - anyone who got a holiday or a deployment to the UK was immediately inundated to fill lists and start buying and posting lol. There was also the madness of combining other companies' miniatures to make units :)

@@brenthartman502 Ah- this is what happens when something cool is in scarce supply. The exact same economy was in operation with anime in the UK in the late '90s and early noughties- tape trading. @@DrBlaxill absolutely mate... I was lucky to be around those halcyon days and friends of mine (a tad older ..tad LOl) are finding unopened blister packs.. rulebooks and modules of the era. I find we are getting more nostalgic for that bygone era that these younger generations will not realise the issues we had (limited supply, Internet?, Overseas phonecalls..) Dont get me wrong - I love the era and the way we had to do what we could. i think the intent behind eschewing base to base and instead just allowing the entire front rank to attack was a combination of simplification and, more importantly, to give infantry the ability to hit back at small base-size targets like chariots or monsters. now, the obvious answer to this would be to allow "base to base plus 1" (or two? idk, i'll leave that to the game designers to argue over) or to reintroduce some version of supporting attacks. but for one reason or another, GW seems intent on not doing either of those... and until they do so, it seems we're stuck in a bit of a pickle. another, softer, solution, could be to at least limit the free reforms to only being able to add/subtract a single rank (or column?) at a time. Not a complete fix, but better than nothing. and/or perhaps choosing between pivoting redressing ranks... but now we're reaching high levels of fiddly without really adressing the core issue.

The election wasn't even real or meaningful. It represents a cycling in of Labour that has been obvious & inevitable for more than a year. It is an act of political theater, and a sacrament to mass democracy. No meaningful choice was made. Say it with me: Electoral politics aren't real.

Germans voted in a relatively leftist government a few years ago. But that government can't repair the damage done by the conservatives in the prior decades. At least not in a single term. Same will be true for the left in France and Britain. And to the uneducated public it will seem like the left governments aren't doing anything and we'll see another swing to the conservatives. It's so frustrating to watch. I'm old enough now to have seen this a few times :(

While the parlamentary and presidential electoral systems are similar, it does feel as though the UK's system is far more formal and far less of a joke like it is here in the states. As seriously as we wish to take it here, the media always converts serious conversations like this into name-calling farces where instead of minds being swayed by the ability to lead or create true positive change, we vote based on which candidate will be the most memeable or whichever are pushed to be shown as 'correct' by the agenda of our public educational system, since that agenda is all the young new voters will learn. No one here thinks for themselves. We are truly the laughing stock of the free world...PUNKS!
