Some nice new fire trucks in Wales. At least one 20-reg Scania, a 23-reg Scania and the Volvo looked like a 68-reg in great condition. Its just the 59-reg Mercedes Benz Van that looked a bit out of place and a little bit sluggish for what is required.

I couldn't really help having an ironic laugh, at the old style Mercedes Benz van, where the guy had leapt out to shut the doors and jumped back in. Not so much the closing of the doors. But the vehicle struck me as not exactly being fast, and I wouldn't really have wanted to be the one waiting on it arriving to save my accommodation or business from being burnt to the ground.

Many years ago I spent a week on CAT A escorts from Liverpool to Preston crown court. The convoy straddled lanes 2 and 3 of the M6 and absolutely nothing was allowed to obstruct us. One day the lead Range Rover caught up with an elderly lady in a Micra doing 50 in the middle lane. She wouldn't move over so he pulled alongside and pushed her off the motorway and onto the bank. He then dropped to the back of the convoy and continued on. Another vehicle took up lead.
