A lot of battery power and demand from an underwhelming solar set-up. It would rely heavily on driving a lot to use alternator charging and plugging in to grid power every night.

If I were going to buy a Sprinter, I'd get an older one with the 3.0L diesel engine. The new Sprinters have a 2.0L diesel engine. That dinky little engine is working very hard to develop enough power at highway speeds.. It may be enough power for around town driving, but when going cross country, I'd want a larger engine that isn't working so hard to develop adequate power on the highway...

Some thin aluminum tubing and sheetmetal brackets holding a 60 lb tire on a supposedly offroad vehicle... what could go wrong?

That's an awesome van, if I would make any suggestions it would be good to raise the tailpipe, or maybe run it over the back axle to give you more ground clearance. That exhaust pipe would be the first thing to get damaged on the trail.. again nice van
