I was able to visit Elitches in late Aug. or early Sept. of 1994. (I missed the first 3 days of the school season my freshman year, back in Indiana, due to being on vacation- (which was awesome in itself!) Besides seeing my first laser light show at the planetarium, riding this rickety old coaster stands out in my memories! This thing was dangerous and painful, and I would have sworn the car left the tracks on one hill, at least. We rode it repeatedly! Lol At the time, I dont think even my dad, who grew up in Grand Junction, knew that the park was moving and the Twister would be no more. I'm really happy to have caught a ride and experienced the park before it was gone.

I was 10 when I first rode on The Flying Turns...I cried (sobbed) the entire time. It was absolutely horrifying. And I would be horrified today! 🤯

Omgeezy! This was the first coaster I fell in love with as a 10 yr old! Wow what freggin memories, I rode it everytime I'd come to the park which was pretty often being a Brooklynite lolzz Now they've tried to mimic the same uphill loop concept on what they now call the soaring eagle aka the SuperMan if you've ridden it in Six Flags Great adventures... So sad to see it go, Thanx for the Nostalgia tho!🎢

I begged my dad for days to go on this Cyclone until he finally relented but then he refused to go on it with me. I was 8 or 9 (I think) so it was 1968 or 1969, and I was scared to death once the ride started. When it was over the only thing my Dad said was "You look a little green." I never told him how petrified I was that it would come off the rails or I'd get thrown out of the car or that I wanted to throw up as soon as we hit the first drop. I also had whiplash because it threw me around. Dad was smarter than I thought.

The Acroplane is a ride definitely not for the faint of heart. The actual thing moves at half of that speed, but as of currently, none are in operation. The ride itself did indeed look like that and it functions the exact same

I had a chance to see what was left of the Comet prior to it's demolition. Sadly, by that time, the lift hill collapsed along with the far turn. Part of the station's roof was collapsed too. For a long time, prior to the state when I saw it, I was trying to get the coaster saved. Why? Well, what many do not know is that the coaster's designer was the very same person that designed the famous Coney Island Cyclone, Vernon Keenan. In fact, if you look at the layout of the Comet closely, you can see that it has the Cyclone's pedigree. There was a glimmer of hope for a while when a small park called Little Amerika wanted to move the coaster. They ended up taking the trains, but deemed the cost to move the coaster would be too much. Sadly, there is nothing left now as what remained standing of the coaster, was torn down in 2012.

People from all over the country would come to this park at one time it was considered the best amusement park in America. It’s only 5 minutes from my home. All that is left are a few slabs of concrete where some of buildings use to stand. However, I took my eighth grade graduation pictures in front of the remains of the jackrabbit. Everything is all tore down now.

Aha! I road this monster back in 1982 I believe while I was on my greyhound bus ride around the USA after leaving Astro World for the last time binge riding the Cyclone as many times as I could stand it! This one hear was no joke because in Riverview Park Fashion this one was a ride in deletant tree covers not being able to see where you were going ONLY after you got up to the top of which ever hill you were getting ready to drop and this one hear was no joke! (Please understand this video was taken back in 1982 and internet computer age has not come yet!

It is such a shame what happened to The Blue Streak. It was on the National Historic Registry too. The owners could not afford the $50K/year insurance to operate it and had no money for upkeep so they "allowed" it to burn to the ground and then razed the rest. The trustees should be jailed. Reading the newspaper statement by two different people in charge of the park I caught them in a lie and concluded it was burnt down on purpose then they lied to the public to not get backlash for doing so without the community's consent.

I know it didn't make sence to the company to run it but how could another park not use the opertunity to get a cheap gutted park that has all the infrastructure built. It doesn't make sence. The infrastructure is the most expensive part. Another park could have bought this place loaded it with rides and had a successful park.

It's hard to believe that this is what the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk looked like back in 1966. Or is this a different California coastal amusement park I'm wondering? It's hard to tell if you didn't know very much of what was going on during the year 1966. That's how I was during the time when the Batman TV series was on the ABC TV airwaves. Also when Gilligan's Island was still on the CBS TV airwaves. I Dream of Jeanie was still going on strong. Did you notice that I also never knew Hocus-Pocus/Carl Hansen back then in 1966? 🤔 😳 😏 😉 😬 👀 🤔

This is Pacific Ocean Park in SANTA MONICA, which is now defunct, not Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk which still operates till this day. Do some reading up on Pacific Ocean Park. In its heyday, it had higher attendance records than Disneyland.
