Definitely fake. Filson USED to be top quality, they didn’t go from shit quality to good quality, in fact it’s been the opposite. Colour design everything is god awful on that.

I always style my trucker jackets with the bottom button undone when the rest is done up. It’s a style that originates from England where men riding horses and wearing waistcoats would leave the bottom button undone so it doesn’t ride up their torso when on horseback. It transfers to modern day use though with driving/sitting. Hope it helps a little.

You need to: 1) clean, condition and wax them more often, 2) use a false tongue to prevent lace cuts into your shoe. Optinal: protect the toe more with Tuff Toe or so.

I have a pair of these, used them for riding horses for years, usually in training. They were my all time favourite riding boot I ever used, although I don't ride as much but I still have them and bring them out from time to time. I bought mine over 10 years ago as "seconds" from the company who makes them. I think there was a small scratch on them or something but they are awesome once you break them in. They are way more flexible than any other riding boot. Amazing that a design from over 100 years ago beats the new stuff!

I had a couple tins of wax that hardened. I put a custard cup of water in the microwave and brought it to boil. Cracked the wax lid, the heat radiates through the metal can. Take your custard dish off the heat, first!

As far as I have learned, the sizing went to letters around 2002/2003. My recently purchased vintage double Mackinaw is from 1999 and has a numbered size.

Trying to do my packer coat and the tins of wax I have are so stiff you cannot spread them. Do they get old and hard after a few years? How about warming the coat up to about 100°F before starting? I can't even scoop any wax out of the tin and it's a freshly opened tin.

That isn't a "recent move they made" regarding the straight sewn upper opposed to the round one. The eight inch moc has always had the straight line. The six inch has always had the round. These boots were created in 1950's and have never changed since their inception. Aside from being originally called Irish setters.

Hi Cameron, thanks for making the video. I live in Chicago and I am new to Filson brand and ordered couple of jackets for first time on Black Friday sale. My experience was similar, in that, the sizing on these jackets is all over the place. I ended up returning both jackets. Luckily, for me, I happen to live in one of the States in the US that has a Filson retail store. I ended up going to the Filson store and physically trying on each of the coats and then making my decision. The good news that I have is that you will find a size in a particular jacket that may work for you, but you will have to try on the different sizes to get the right fit. Cheers!

Only boots I’ve worn for the last 15 years . I’m a contractor , specialize in framing mostly but sometimes siding and roofing is part of the gig . Obviously roofing is tougher on the boots but I figure even if I go through a pair a year it works out to $1 (usd )/day I always keep 2 spare pairs just in case .

Thank for your video. I've totally in between a L and an XL and am thinking about keeping the XL. As for the sitting and bunching, unbuttoning that bottom button is key. It spreads the jacket when seated, flattening everything out - mostly. I also think it depends on the amount of flexion when in the seated position. When on horseback, for example, the position is much more upright and potentially less bunchy. But when seating in a car, the angle made by the torso and legs is much more acute, accentuated by leaning for the steering wheel. The Large is a perfect fit. Too perfect I think. If was all about style, I suppose I'd keep the Large. But, if I want to layer a little and I maybe account for some of the jacket shrinkage I've heard about, the XL might be the way to go.
