If anyone can do it right without electronic trickery, country singers and musicians can. People who don't know any better tend to look down on country music (perhaps because many of the song structures and sentiments expressed are relatively simple and straightforward), but a lot of the musicianship is astonishing.
@melissaculpepper766312 күн бұрын
Then one needs to educate oneself and listen to the vocal performances and harmonies of Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Conway Twittty, and Oh, so many, many others!!! They MAKE it sound “so simple”! Plus, they wrote and performed their own music. They are real artists! Just because today’s pop music “ain’t country don’t make it good or complex”!!!

I've recently seen the two remaining members of The Moody Blues and they are taking the absolute risks associated with performing live. Justin Hayward (76) and John Lodge (81) still are delighting us with their performances (separately) and I am so glad to know they have the integrity and honesty to do what they do. I don't understand why any fans would want to hear a processed performance rather than whatever the artist feels like delivering, both emotionally and physically on the night. I wonder if those of us here on Fil's channel are in the majority or minority when we say we want to hear the musicians perform without using technology to make the flaws in a performance disappear?

Absolutely support hearing the actual artists. Ella Fitzgerald performed to a very old age, and some of the most technically difficult jazz, and adjusted for her changing voice. No autotune or pitch control at the North Sea Jazz Festival. Just real vocals and instrumentals doing what comes naturally.
@meloniedropik353911 күн бұрын
@@ilangayouthdanceco.3621 Ella had one of the best voices ever. She was so smooooooth and effortless in her delivery. And she had integrity. I remember seeing her on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson (a legendary host and a legendary singer back in the 70s or early 80s). She was delightful during her interview while Johnny was enthralled. He knew she was a lady from the top of her head to the tips of her toes, and his interview demonstrated that side of her to the audience.
@justintime4200011 күн бұрын
John Lodge is singing live but he’s using some type of electronic vocal enhancements to make his voice sound a lot fuller than it is naturally. Nothing wrong with that. Justin’s voice live (except for on NIWS where it is more fattened and more reverb is used) is generally very natural sounding. I’m a bit sad to hear Justin is not letting people take live videos anymore, but it’s his gig to control. Justin is 78.

you really can feel.. a natural.. unedited vocal, when they hit a perfect note it resonates inside you, like a flutter in your chest, but it really is dependant on natural expression, and it always seems to me, that perfect note that catches in your chest, precedes a roll through slight flat/sharp, into a slight sharp/flat, that gives it an emotional honesty.. amazing!

This brings back my faith and reinforces my love of country music, which has pretty much become the last bastion for commercial bands, harmonic vocals, live performances. Now as long as they don't go full pop, I'll be glad. Because pop music can't seem to get a clue and those artists end up gravitating to country as well.

Another good discussion and example of what you do. Contemporary country is not to my liking, ever since about Garth Brooks, but then most all contemporary music is somewhat alien to me in melody, chords, and parsing. Nonetheless, there are artists, young ones, who are massively skilled, and are carrying on the good music. A lot of covers of earlier greats, often as good or better than their originals. Some may move on, and become songwriters as well. Good to see you also looking back in time, and analyzing and qualifying some of the greats from days gone by. Keep it up, love your work.
