I was talking today with a friend whose family resides in Shri Lanka and he thought a lot of these were owned tea barons whose fabulous wealth under nationalisation and labour control.And coffee!1
@DesertifyUrbex8 күн бұрын
Yes, precisely. There was a wave of these becoming abandoned with the independence of India. They were often closely tied to the wealth flowing from lands owned there.

Camera two made me very, very seasick from the wide angle setting. Not recommended when the bearer is panning back and forth. Interesting place to explore, but please include the name of the town at the start of the video.

This may be fascinating to the explorers, what it looks like to a NH native is that they came here, raped our forests and mountains and then left all their trash, equipment and pollution behind. This isn't cool, it's sad.

I am always amazed how some parts of a building stand the tests of time, whilst others parts crumble. I wonder if the walls have any residual energy 🤔 Thank you for the tour 😊

Thanks Jacky! Oddly, I find the newer parts are often the first to go. Maybe a sign of how craftsmanship has changed over the years.

I find it so hard to believe that such grand buildings with so much history just get abandoned. So big and beautiful and amazing. True medieval history. So shameful. Those vaults just inside the door look like modern concrete. What's up with that? Holy crap that hole under the coverstones is a lot deeper than expected! 16:25 And I think I see a longbone amongst the rubble in your second look from the other side. At an angle in the back right corner, one end being under the mess at the far end, the other end resting against the right-side wall. What person desecrates graves like that? Seriously: What kind of person?
@DesertifyUrbexАй бұрын
It is seemingly widespread in many countries, but still always shocking. I think the Victorian renovations not only reinforced the vault, but also sealed off the staircase.

strange that a tower collapses on one side, perhaps a bad foundation? nice picking for thieves those old rich ones had a lot off nice stuff on them down under.......................................they also left small traps for the next thief who came after them 😀

My thought was it may have been a later poor quality extension, so right along those lines. I do think the thieves got away with a bit of a haul of valuables.

Thankyou, it is nice to see you back again! If I could get my hands on these vandals and hooligans, they'd never want to see a burial vault again in their lives! Society has altered immensely since I was young, many years ago, and I don't know what the answer is concerning these people who desecrate the place of burial! I noticed that here were a few Yew trees around the tower and graves, and they will likely be cut down if the tower and land have been bought, but I hope the remains of those who are interred in the ground, are taken and reburied in a safe peaceful place. Once again, your attention to detail regarding the history of places you visit is excellent. I look forward to future videos. ...Tich.

8:58 Sonic Youth was an American rock band based in New York City and formed in 1981. Founding members Kim Gordon, Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo remained together for the entire history of the band, while Steve Shelley followed a series of short-term drummers in 1985, rounding out the core line-up.

Like I said...if someone decided to fix even part of this place, the owners would be in trouble. You can't just take over someone's property because it's abandoned. Here is a case in point. Other countries act like laws don't exist because they are using it to make a video for sale. What world do these people come from anyway that they aren't answerable to someone for what they do in the name of KZbin...
