I can only imagine the seated anger and how many times these women garnished their ‘ladies’’ meals with bodily fluids.. if you know what I mean.

I can’t imagine these women having to put on that amount of clothes in the summer heat. I would’ve passed out. That’s awful

Awareness baby, the younger generation are forgetting what happened to Black people and where it came from and why it still has roots today. If someone has to explain that to you then you can't be helped.

I'm sweating just watching all the heavy layers of clothes that were worn back then, summer is already unbearable now just walking around in one layer, but at least we have AC to look forward to. Very cool chanel though, subscribed!

Mansa Musa, the richest man in history famously had a procession of 12,000 slaves just for traveling to Mecca for his prayers. Imagine the lives they went through.....

It's worth noting that slavery has existed in many countries, and even white English people have been considered enslaved at various points in history. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavery_in_Britain I think some African Americans get the idea that they were the only ones.

Everyone knows we weren't the only ones. We were just the largest group. Take a look at any world map. Black people has roots everywhere due to displacement from the continent of Africa because of slavery. STFU

My goodness you had to put on the corset! That’s real dedication to your study! And all those layers and layers! I mean what a palaver people lived in those days! Everything such a production! It’s mind boggling to me that you had to go through this while dog and pony show every time you get up in the morning just to put your own mistress through her own dog and pony show! And then the bloody corset too! What if you were a rebel type and decided you just want to put on a simple dress and that there was no need for all that stuff? And what about going to the bathroom with all that stuff on?

I actually liked the movie. And honestly I don’t feel it should be looked at as “historically “ correct. The movie (imo) was made to make you think. There are so many Afro men & women that disappear from the face of the earth, there maybe a creepy group of folks out there doing these kinds of things to people! And honestly I don’t think they care about the historical correctness of the clothing and the processing of the cotton. No, they did not weigh the cotton, but they also didn’t sell the cotton because they had them burning it at the end of the day because, there was nowhere to take it. They were reenacting trauma to people they felt like should be under their thumb, that’s the point of the movie it’s showing that and this is not for all white people cause I’m sure not all white people want anybody to be under them let Long us! but they are showing that there are some white people who would not mind going back to the good old days as they call it that’s just my take from the movie.

If racists are insane enough to do other things publicly, i completely expect them to act on some sick role play fantasy they have at sites. Really sad that it hasnt already been addressed because i know its been happening. In fact i would expect it to happen the moment i set up a historical site/hire people. You prepare for the crazy people who obviously exist and obviously will prey on anyone they come across. You have that stuff thought through BEFORE it happens. Cameras and easy security should be the bare minimum.

I just wanna know the real numbers of how often this was also a secret affair. Im sure a lot of the ladys had sexual affairs with their maids and i wonder the dynamics of that. How many were genuine feelings that amounted to nothing because they both knew it could never work? How many were predatory and forced? How many were technically consensual but only because the maid either felt obligated, only had temporary feelings, or done as a coping mechanism? How many were used for in person sex ed, games, jokes, etc between the teenage enslavers? That part of life was heavily sealed away so we'll never know, but ive always wondered. What i do know is that it had to have happened a lot. In all forms. im sure you can use your own imagination to wonder because i wont, just gets more and more sad the more scenarios you think up 💀

I had a "friend" repeatedly call me aunt Jemima to my face as if it was some joke, and obviously I wasn't laughing. But she obviously had this smug smile on her face the whole time she was doing it too(I was stuck in her car with her). I just didn’t say anything, until she stopped. save to say we aren't friends anymore.

This was so informative but also deeply sad. It was not God's design and it is so sad how a lot of this was warped as "God's will". The way our black brothers and sisters were treated and how too many are treated today is disgusting and punishable in the eyes of our Almighty Creator. Thank you for this very important insight that is deeply necessary to know the pain and struggle and expectations of enslaved peoples. Prayers to you for blessings and protection 🙏

It’s a powerful reminder that slavery was atrocious no matter where the enslaved person resided- even “house slaves” ran away. If it were luxe, why leave? I’ve heard so many people speak on how the house was “easy”, whatever that means and it’s always angered me. Slavery, whether in the house or field, was wrong. Period. And “wrong” is a gross understatement

Maybe let’s do a day in the life of a white European woman enslaved by blacks on the Ivory Coast. They were raped, tortured. Beaten and for fun Black people heated hot coals and skinned them alive in an effort to remove their white skin..let’s do a documentary on that experience so ALL the facts of slavery are told.

Such a great video! I love that you talked about being used as a prop, people get a little too into the “acting.” I also Love that you brought up traditions like the ring shout! A point I think should be made though is that ring shouts, quilting, basket weaving, and the like, are not re-enactments. These are real parts of our culture that we have kept and continued. The same w/ head wraps. I’m sure SOME people do those things as just reenactment, but most of us participate as part of our culture and veneration to our ancestors. Such a great and well thought out video. This really is a lot of what I think about especially the weight of it and just wanting to have fun, but it’s not that simple for us.
