This is great, what a fun idea. Also, 2:07, might the mechanism "love" 5hz because that is its own resonance frequency? I mean, might that also be why it broke?
@pierogiengineering21 сағат бұрын
Nah, it loves anything below 7hz just because it doesn’t have to oscillate as fast and the whole motion is more fluid

How does it work
@wdburt915 күн бұрын
Armchair physicist here, and I'm actually speculating myself, but I believe I figured out how it works. Okay, so it's like a flat propeller when turned off, but the blades [can] rock back and forth while the propeller assembly spins. NOW, the effect of the subwoofer occurs because when the propeller is spinning while the blades are rocked one way, they create a directional airflow. Then, very quickly (depending on the given frequency), the blades rock to the other side and make the air flow in the opposite direction (think as if you were to run a plane's propeller backwards instead of forwards). Because the direction of the flow of air is able to be changed so quickly (which you probably wouldn't find on an airplane (though you would a helicopter)) due to the design of the blades, the airflow itself is what's causing the effect because the entire 'cohesive air' of the house is directed out of that one window for the span of a fraction of a second, and then air is pushed right back inside the house just as fast, all due to the design of the propeller. So, he basically took a small helicopter blade setup, tuned it to any frequency, and then attached it to a hole in his house. Pretty neat.

Any build info? Mainly, I'm curious as to what kind of motor you used for the wheel, since I'm interested in building something similar. Excellent work!
@pierogiengineering6 күн бұрын
Imma let u in on some insider data. Go on ebay and find an old hoverboard listed as “for parts or broken”. U can get two killer brushless motors already in the form of a wheel for under $50 easy. Just make sure the actual wheels are the aluminum ones, not the plastic ones. That’s exactly how I went about getting the motors used in the video.
