Thanks for noticing, many of our visiting pilots are very courteous and use noise abatement procedures to lessen the impact of loud props on neighboring homes. Our neighbors appreciate that, too! Any kind of airplane sound may be music to my ears but that’s not always the case with other people, remembering this helps us to have this unique “in town” airport without becoming a nuisance. 👍👍

It’s a dream come true! I’ve flown for 35 years, over 30 of those were in rental or club aircraft. Responsibilities to my family meant any extra money was put aside for home repairs, college tuition, first cars, vacations, etc. It didn’t occur to me I might be able to afford to own one later in life but here we are, I pinch myself every time I open the hangar doors! Thanks for checking out Ginger’s channel, it’s appreciated!!

Short roll with no flaps hanging out! Houses a little close for my taste!! I've seen ground loops get that far off the active runway
@GingerThePlane9 күн бұрын
There was a 15 knot headwind coming straight down the runway centerline which allowed for a short liftoff, you can hear the winds at the start of the video. The houses are 75 feet off to the side, it’s “snug” but safe, not recommended for low time pilots or students. In all the years this runway has been here there’s only been one aircraft that departed the runway due to brake failure, slid to a stop with lots of room to spare before coming anywhere near a house. Come check us out if you get the chance, this is at 38W in northwestern WA state. 👍✈️🍀

@GingerThePlane Used to be airplanes & boats, now it's boats. We live on a 44,000 acre lake, Table Rock Lake, now it's just boats, lost my med, former Saratoga driver. A pilot with tail feathers clipped, is a horrible event! I soak my sadness in a new boat!

Normally I’m a grass runway fan but this time of year in the PNW that gets soggy & muddy. It’s a real privilege to have a hard surface runway and fuel on the field. We work hard to keep it viable for the local aviation community. 👍👍

I think finding and knowing where you going to park an aircraft, RV, boat should be first step before buying taking possession. In my local sub market hanger space is scarce. Second step is talk to an asset protection attorney and a tax planning firm. Figure out best practices for ownership and saving taxes for your mission. No most boats do not cost what you describe unless you are talking about large liveaboards with complex systems and expensive marina fees and you pay someone to keep up with everything. Sounds like you are talking about hobby flying. Light sport aircraft is probably a better choice for hobby flying. LSA can be less expensive to buy and cheaper to earn hours in. I think you can work in your own LSA so repairs and maintenance is much less money than certified aircraft. A lot of certified aircraft are going to fit under new LSA rules soon. In 2025. I’m different than your hobby outlook. I look at aircraft as a piece of real estate. They share a lot of same ownership entity needs as a risky asset; you should segregate risky assets away from your safe assets. do not own risky assets in your own name; If you are only a hobby aircraft owner, you should form a PNP corporation, and a flight club. A flight club may be mom, dad, sister, brother. A flight club applies for tax exempt status for aircraft. 501(c)(7)as I recall. Immediately save on sales tax, use tax, local property tax. Aircraft used 50% or more for a business purpose, aircraft have the same tax reducing benefits as REI; fractional ownership suits aircraft ownership like real estate. My goal is aircraft earns a living and reduces my taxes like a single rental property can. If I ever want to move up aircraft can be section 1031 like kind exchange into a aircraft just like real estate. My 2 cents.

Split rear window is not a 182 feature, 172s only.
@GingerThePlane17 күн бұрын
It’s a 1963 182F, look up the tail # N3572U. The other signs this is no 172 are cowl flaps, the rear side window shape and beefier gear. Also, that rear split window wraps around the sides in an un-172 like way. I’m a 172 owner and admit to being fooled by this airplane (also thinking it was a 172) but the ‘63 182F was an oddball with some 1-year only features. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@samdp849717 күн бұрын
@@GingerThePlane Hah! You're partially right! '62 and '63 had the the split rear window AND the square shaped rear window. The 'omni-vision' rear window came in 64. I stand corrected! Thanks!

@@GingerThePlane Thanks. I just saw that plane on your channel, doing a short landing. It definitely has some ponies under the hood. Do some folks install lopey cams for the same sort of "listen to me, look to me" effect as some hot rodders? (Obviously I am not in the airplane community - I'm not trying to be snarky)
@GingerThePlane27 күн бұрын
@@melotone3305 good question (no snark taken). Aircraft engines are pretty tightly regulated and the ability to customize with cams, turbos and other mods is limited to the experimental category. The majority of planes we see here are in the standard category which means they are designed and built to be reliable and maintainable. My Cessna for example has a 150 HP, 4 cyl, 320 ci engine that revs to 2650 on takeoff and cruises at 2450. These engines are very understressed and run at constant rpm’s for hours, that makes em a lot safer. The aerobatic airplanes you see at an airshow will have a hopped up engine, usually in the 550 ci range with horsepower in the 300 and up range but if that breaks they can land at the airport beneath them. In aviation we can’t just pull over when something quits so reliability is what’s most important. 👍👍
@melotone330527 күн бұрын
@GingerThePlane Thank you very much. The understated, but safe performance aspects to the Ercoupe are really what caught my attention. The horsepower, rpm and speed range seem designed with reliability and safety in mind. And with cruising speeds around highway speeds, that would keep my blood pressure down. Thanks again.
@GingerThePlane27 күн бұрын
@ there’s another very special thing about an Ercoupe, you can roll the windows down in flight. It’s like open cockpit but with lots of structure around you in case things go sideways. My neighbor Bill flies Snoopy and it’s a very special airplane!!
