The L shape connector? That goes straight onto the power supply. These fans don't have motherboard control.

I am down to this case or Phanteks NV9. The NV9 is little taller and deeper, but it does not seem like there is much space for cable management. The space is lost to the motherboard area. Another draw back the NV9 isn't tool less. I like these cases cause I want to go with 140 fans.

This is a beast, I've only used the NV5 from Phanteks but scaling it up I'd say this would be easier to build in.

5:00 , no, that is not for the water pump, that is flow sensor header. Also, this is currently THE best board for workstation / prosumer build out there, only X670E Ace is at this level and thats an EOL board. If you know, you know. Especially if you are planning to run a custom loop, or two.

So I recommend scaling the motherboard with the CPU, as you might need more power stages for higher chips. I'd go up to a 7800X3D with this board personally.

@@jordanashI would never buy a product so soon from the multi billion dollar company that clearly didn’t test their 13th/14th gen processors, leaving a good number of them permanently damaged and only extending the warranty as a make-good to customers. I choose not to reward incompetence

Thanks for clarifying, I'm making it part of my comments that I look for reasoning on an opinion so it's helpful to a viewer. Yeah it was a bad time. I did see them offering replacements, over just extending warranties though. Additionally, a lot of people might not have pushed their CPU to levels that would have been affected to begin with. We will see what comes from the new launch and hope they can turn it around, if only in the name of keeping prices competitive. It's also a shame as a creator because most of the Intel content I make no one watches.

This board looks nice but boy did Gigabyte screw up on the SSD slots sharing bandwidth with the GPU. Losing half of the two advertised M.2 slots if you want your GPU to not be run at half speed? Better if they had reduced the M2 slots and added USB ports instead.

Hello Jordan, quick question. So would it be possible to use a capture card on the PCIE_2 slot, as well as 4 or 5 NVMEs' and still be able to keep the GPU in PCIE_1 running at x16?

Unfortunately not, after you've used the first NVME slot, the second you use either NVME slot 2 or 3 the GPU speed drops. I'll look at the block diagram and see what your options are.

Oh slot 4 & 5, your first comment sounded like you wanted to use four or five NVMEs total. If you're only using the top NVME then slots 4&5 it shouldn't drop.

@@jordanash apologies! You were right I was curious if 4 or 5 slots used would be fine but seemingly as you’ve described it should be fine using slots 1,4, and 5 along with GPU on PCIE_1 and Capture Card on PCIE_2.

Hi Jordan, although all my previous rigs were intel based on Asus motherboard but I guess your video might change my mind for a future PC to switch from an Asus motherboard to an MSI one. The Z890 Ace is a little cheaper then the Asus Hero and I seems to be feature rich to me.

X870E-E is pretty much cosmetic changes and USB 4 & WiFi 7. You'd be able to get the X670E-E cheaper now so I'd get that.

Yes please do a comparison with the Asus board. I’m literally deliberating between these 2 for my build! Pretty set on MSI though since I’ve never had an issue with any of their products. Maybe I’ve been lucky but not sure I trust Asus after the last year or so

Great video. I had Hero motherboards in previous rigs I built. Too bad the new Hero isn't equipped with a 10 GB LAN Port. I think that's a missed opportunity from Asus for a motherboard that is one of their top tier motherboards.

So ARGB is Addressable RGB - 5 volt 3-pin, but called rgb. There is a 4-pin rgb connector too, but that's 12 volts and not regularly used now.

I was expecting the price will be like around $350-500 so then i was going to comment about that "Affordable" title, for me any motherboard to be called affordable it must be less than $200-250 at most, thank you for this video, i am going AMD side 👍

Yeah I changed it because people wouldn't get the context in how I meant it. I meant affordable for a Z series board, in comparison to others in the same chipset. B860 will be a lot cheaper and I'll keep that title for those. Unfortunately titles aren't long enough to give that context.

Mobos having latches to release the PCIe is quite a relief. It is quite hassle to reach for the slot inside the case. Really wish budget boards come with this feature.

8000 series swap the Gen 5 support for integrated graphics. No, 9000 series supports Gen 5.
