So far this is the best equipped board for z890 below $650: - 24 phase VRM (not 16, 18 or other cheapo on other brands) - 110A SPS stages (not cheapo 60A 80A or 90A God forbid) - dual BIOS - debug LCD - 10gbe NIC - 2x16pcie with 8x+8x bufurcation - ALL 10gbit USB ports on rear IO - front USB with up to 60W charge (not 20W or 30W) - top audio codec ALC4082 + ESS9219Q - full set of buttons on board/rear IO I bet you will NOT find better board in this price range. Dont tell me about HERO, TAICHI, MASTER or other crap. Read their specs CAREFULY: they all have ONE or the OTHER spec, but NOT ALL at once.
@jordanash7 күн бұрын
Just to add, from what I've seen the phase of VRM is usually down to the price. Other people like the other boards, plus there's not as expensive. It depends what you want/need. This has so much on it, but has a high price to match.

Thanks for the board tour! Moving from my Z490 Godlike to a build with this board. I agree with your opening comment about this board vs the Godlike. 90% of the features at half the price!

You're welcome! Yes, a very niche board that very few *need.*

5:00 , no, that is not for the water pump, that is flow sensor header. Also, this is currently THE best board for workstation / prosumer build out there, only X670E Ace is at this level and thats an EOL board. If you know, you know. Especially if you are planning to run a custom loop, or two.

Great board for the price.

Thanks for the look at this board. I actually chose this one even without a set budget, as it basically has everything I would want except for Thunderbolt 5. The extra $300 is not worth it for the Asus Extreme in that case. Also, this seemingly has the best offerings on the rear I/O and the 10gb ethernet kind of gets it ahead of the Asus Hero in the price range.

Yes please do a comparison with the Asus board. I’m literally deliberating between these 2 for my build! Pretty set on MSI though since I’ve never had an issue with any of their products. Maybe I’ve been lucky but not sure I trust Asus after the last year or so

Selling for 9299 SEK in Sweden (892 USD). Absolutely ridiculously expensive... but I want it. Asus has always been my goto brand when it comes to motherboards but not now, they didn't have a single board that I liked when it comes to the backpanel IO.
@jordanashАй бұрын
Yikes. Maybe look at ASRock, they've got some good stuff now.
@paulboyce8537Ай бұрын
Tuning Controller (JDASH) and dual BIOS and lane switches you missed. Hope you do a full review. Tuning Controller (JDASH) didn't come with the board. Z890 Unify X does have so if you are doing both maybe compare the cooling and RAM speeds for the overclocking and use the Tuning Controller (JDASH) with the Ace.
@jordanashАй бұрын
I don't generally cover those kinds of little things just to keep the video concise but can add them for higher-end boards in future. I will be using this in a build soon, but I'm not getting any other MSI boards as far as I know.
@paulboyce8537Ай бұрын
@@jordanash Ace does look like a very good board. It has all the overclocking features. Option for RAM also. Cooling is impressive and 10G LAN. It seems to be somewhat future proof. Yes there is the question if this is one or two gen board or longer. That is a really important question for the price. One very disappointed, two not happy, three Ok and more it would make the board fair value.

@@jordanash Yes, gigabyte z790 and x670e were better built than z890 and x870e, for the 700 euro they dont have even backplate, for the enthusiast top 3 boards are i think z890 meg ace, z890 unify and asrock z890 taichi ocf, asus boards are way too much expensive for what they offer, thanks for reply
@jordanashАй бұрын
Personally I don't get the point of the backplate when you don't see it in a case 🤷♂️

Does the board come with a build in SSD heatsink? I can’t imagine a heat sink would fit under any of that
@jordanashАй бұрын
It's not mean to fit under, it's meant for drives without one. The cover itself is the heatsink.
@Demonoid1990Ай бұрын
Hmm I'm kinda interested in the ASRock Taichi and Taichi OCF. Though I'm certainly more interested in CAMM2 and CUDIMM. I'll certainly be holding off a bit until I see some numbers on all the new memory stuff.

Hi Jordan, although all my previous rigs were intel based on Asus motherboard but I guess your video might change my mind for a future PC to switch from an Asus motherboard to an MSI one. The Z890 Ace is a little cheaper then the Asus Hero and I seems to be feature rich to me.
