this composition is meant to be unpleasant and mort. as many compositions titled "stravagante" it brings out the affects of death and the plague, and I think the composer fully intended it.

Brilliant, harpsichord playing!

This is beautiful. It makes me think of a someone playing a synth harpsichord, and a 2nd person is casually hitting a pitch-bend button on occasion. Reminds me of some electronic music, but it's like alternate dimensions open up, amazing. Thank you for sharing your playing!

What temperament is this? Is it meantone? If it's meantone, what comma?
@vgllrd4 ай бұрын
31-EDO? I think is actually 24-EDO, correct me if I'm wrong, pls
@JohannesKellerCembalo4 ай бұрын
No, it's 1/4-comma meantone. In this context I treat it as musically equivalent to 31-EDO. The keyboard consists of 24 keys per octave (I assume that's the reason why you suspected 24-EDO), but I tuned a subset of 31-EDO for this piece. In 24-EDO you wouldn't get any consonant major third ...

An amazing document. We are transported into the past. So expressive. Glorious and overwhelming. No wonder that the French makers took these to make their doubles.

The beautiful meantone temperament, idk what comma (the most common was 1/4 comma). Major 3rds are perfectly tuned in meantone (any comma), whereas they are not in 12 tone equal temperament.
