Three years it's been a whirlwind Morbid Midnight but I'll just cut to the chase my heart skips a beat every single time you post new content you've transcended perfection truth be told and you've brought all the dangerous deadly peaks and world renowned climbers straight into my bedroom I never have to even think about the real thing - your channel IS the real thing !

Honestly, picturing the mountain being all “sure. Yeah. Cool. Come climb me! Summit! Muwahahahaha good luck getting back down, though” Just kidding. The mountain is a mountain and subject to all qualities of mountains, and the mountains have no cares for humans and their goals. But, it still seems ironic how often they are done in by the descent. These people live hard, joy hard and die hard.

If that arrow was really where he was found, that's on the north face and a really odd place to try to summit or descend. Wonder why he picked it. Most people who want to shortcut it take the chute a little further to the east. Even that has gotten so eroded it's another accident waiting to happen.

Not a climber, but if I was part of an expedition I don’t think I’d risk my life, or even summit attempt, to rescue a solo climber, esp. if they were intentionally without oxygen. I probly would help an expedition member. I wouldn’t want my sherpas or guides devoting their resources either. Even if there was a dead body being brought down, such a solo climber should not expect people to drop everything and rescue them. The dead person’s family could have waited a long time to have their deceased love one brought down, spent a lot of money on it etc..

Congrats on 3 years! I recently did a bunch of re-listening to a bunch of your old videos, because they're so quality - the one thing I found funny was that in earlier videos, you speak a lot faster because I think you were still finding your rhythm and style, and compared to your more recent videos it felt kinda like you were in fast-forward lol. Congrats again, and thanks for the integrity you always bring to your various video topics. Don't ever change your schtick, it's quality stuff and I always know when a new video from you pops up that I'm really about to learn something. Keep on keeping on

The only reasonable motive that I can surmise is to direct attention away from those who refused aid to climbers who were still living. That is assuming that there is a motive and this isn't the product of a lazy, hack writer who (as you mentioned) didn't expect readers to ever encounter conflicting details. Nice research, it will be interesting to follow the hornet's nest that is being shaken at this moment.

Wow. I follow Gesman Tamang on KZbin, and I always just assumed he was a reputable mountaineer making an honest name for himself. I'll definitely be looking closer at what he posts from now on.
@RSimpkinuk5711 сағат бұрын
Give Gesman Tamang the benefit of the doubt: on the evidence Morbid Midnight presents here, it is "Ben Ayers" and "Tulsi Rauniyar" - who are they? do they have any track record? - who brought his name into it as their alleged source. Did they fall for some stranger in a bar telling stories to people who might buy him drinks?
@lc3853Күн бұрын
Who are the article's authors??? Ben Ayers and Tulsi Rauniyar escaped any scrutiny whatsoever. All the blame went to the foreigner? Do better

‘Gesman’. There couldn’t be a more apt name for a protagonist at the centre of a fabricated story full of false statements and no verifiable fact.

Did they change the circumstances because their readers would be uncomfortable with an account of leaving a climber behind? No he died a hero’s death in the act of retrieving another fallen climber. Morbid Midnight is Shredded Wheat - Outside Magazine is Frosted Mini-Wheats. (Sugar coated)

And we thank you for your well-researched and excellently delivered videos. Also, thank you for standing on the side of truth in this particular video. Do you think possibly that the authors of the Outside story simply didn’t want to put in all the effort needed to tell the story correctly? It could be they phoned it in as it were, in which case one has to wonder about other articles they, or one have written in terms of their accuracy. At any rate brave move to let it all out there where we can decide for ourselves what the story really is! I would tend to believe your account to be honest.

I think right full rudder was applied to counter the asymmetrical thrust. But I noticed the nose steering was set to pedals, not manual. If the nose gear was still in contact with the runway during right full rudder input, wouldn't it have steered the aircraft off of the runway, to the right, like it did?

I think this is a case of the lie being more convenient than the truth. The story told in the article creates heroes, while in reality there were people who flat out refused to even attempt to help their fellow climbers because they were "too tired." And in one case they were even fellow soldiers from the very same unit leaving one of their own men behind. That's not a good look... it's terrible. This is also why so many mountaineers never discuss the fact that people steal oxygen bottles and other vital supplies cached during an expedition (and some refuse to even acknowledge that it happens). They don't want it to be known that there are literal oxygen thieves lurking among them.

It was an incredible shameful and dishonourable behavior that of the Indian military expedition. Abandoning one of their own to die in the mountain and being such a large group. They could have organized shifts to transport their sick comrade and didn't anything instead. Really nauseating! It would not be strange if the Indian army had conspired to whitewash its unspeakable behavior by writing the false facts in the specialized media.

As a mountaineer myself everyone who chooses to climb in the high mountain accepts there is a chance of death. Everytime I go out solo high up in the freezing cold I except I am one mistake or accident away from never coming back and I accept that as does every climber I'm sure. I would not want or accept other people putting their lives in danger trying to rescue me. All of the people casting blame are doing so from their warm couch and have never spent time in those conditions.

Great video as always. My favorite climbing-related channel by far. Also... LOL at Outside Magazine's "journalistic" integrety. They are as big of a joke as Rolling Stone many other periodicals. Just NOT journalism at all... including their "rock star" Krakauer.
